A happy time

Mo Kio was so happy that he started jumping up and down like a kid and singing, "I am going to participate in the 99-software open competition. Oh yeah!! The 99-software open competition!!!"

He looked so cute that Yu Chen couldn't stop herself and let out a laugh. Hearing her laughing, Mo Kio felt embarrassed and stopped but then he also started laughing. This was the scene Mr. Mo saw when he entered with Uncle Leo. He was really happy and surprised to see his Kio laughing like that. Uncle Leo went up to them and informed that the driver had gone to pick up the ones Mo Kio instructed. Mo Kio nodded and then turned to Yu Chen, "We must also get going." Yu Chen nodded at first but then a horrible thought hit her. She stammered, "We-we are not goi-going to ride that death bike again? Are we?"

Mo Kio laughed, "That's a wierd way to adress my precious bike. But yeah, we are going to have to ride it again. My father won't allow me to drive the cars yet."

Yu Chen: "Do you even know how to?"

Mo Kio: "Of course I do."

Mr. Mo cut his son as he said, "Kio have you ever even asked me if you could drive a car?" Mo Kio replied, looking at his shoes instead of at his father, "What's the point? I know you were going to say no." Then he looked up to see his father, smiling with his hand outstretched. And in his hand were the keys to the car his father usually drived. Mo Kio looked at his father in shock. He smiled and nodded. Mo Kio took the keys and ran out, taking Yu Chen with him. After they had gone out of earshot,

Uncle Leo: "Master, that was not the usual you."

Mr. Mo: "Well, neither was it the usual Kio today. Moreover, the car is equipped with safety devices."

Uncle Leo: "Yes you are right master. I think I haven't seen him this happy....."

Mr. Mo: "In two years." He smiled and then went off to do his work.

In the car, Mo Kio had admired the car for a long time before getting in with Yu Chen and driving off. Mo Kio said to Yu Chen, "Hey Chen, I am happy today."

Yu Chen: "Aren't you always."

Mo Kio: "Not really. That's more of a mask. But today, I am really and genuinely happy."

Yu Chen: "Is it because of the computer room and the car?"

Mo Kio: "Not really....." his voice trailed off.

Yu Chen realised that there was something that he was not telling her but she thought it better not to probe. After all, they had met only today. Yes, it really had been a long day. Long, but happy. Thinking this, she smiled.

"Hey stop daydreaming, we have arrived." Mo Kio's voice broke her chain of thought and she got out of the car to look at a stylish building with light coming out of its windows. It looked cozy and like a wonderful place. Just then, Xi Hua came running towards Yu Chen, "Hey Chen. Thanks for being so brilliant. It was because of you that we will get to eat here!!!"

Yu Chen smiled as Xi Hua let go of her, and she looked at her up and down.
