I made a mistake

Mo Kio's heart dropped, "What happened?"

Yu Chen looked at him with tears in her eyes, "I...I think.... I think I forgot to send the location of the person ordering to the restaurant from where the food was ordered."

Mo Kio felt helpless. This mistake would not produce a syntax error, but would be a major lapse in the website. Hell, the website would not even work. But he could not say so. Not after looking at Chen's face. Not after seeing such sad drops falling from her beautiful eyes and rolling onto her chubby cheeks.

So he said, "Hey, can you still dictate the code?"

Yu Chen looked up, tears filled in her eyes, "Of course. This mistake will not produce any syntax error, so technically the code is not wrong."

Mo Kio turned his head and wiped the tears threatening to fall from his eyes. He looked at Chen and gave her his brightest smile, "Let's write the left over code. We can check our code if after we finish and no one has still completed their code."

Yu Chen still continued crying. Mo Kio lifted her chin and said, "Hey Chen, look. You see that foreign boy? He is working so hard to beat you. You cannot let his hard work go to waste."

Yu Chen nodded and wiped her tears on the back of her hand. She took a few deep breaths to calm herself and then again started dictating. Mo Kio started typing. After half an hour after that, their focus was broken. The tall boy next to them had pressed the buzzer on his desk and was getting up.

Mo Kio said, "F*ck. That was the buzzer we were supposed to hit when we completed it. He did it already?"

Yu Chen looked around to see all the other teams also getting nervous and looking at the boy and Zach who were going to meet up with the rest of their team. She said, "Let's continue. Not much is left."

And they started again. After ten more minutes, another buzzer sounded. Mo Kio suddenly said, "Don't stop. We're almost at the end."

Yu Chen looked back at the computer and started again. Five minutes after that,they finished. As Mo Kio typed the last line, Chen hit the buzzer.

Mo Kio looked at her, "What about the mistake?"

Yu Chen looked down, pretending to fuss with her t-shirt, "We can't afford to lose any more points."

Mo Kio said nothing as they went to where Xi Hua and Huo Zenghai were sitting.. Seeing the sad look on their faces, Huo Zenghai said, "Hey you two, don't worry. We're at 143 points, and the foreigners are at 147. It's not a big difference, they could easily have made five to six errors. Cheer up."

Xi Hua: "Yeah. And the other team who finished landed up at 135, and that's without errors. We are gonna win."

Mo Kio said in a small voice, "Let's hope so."

Xi Hua heard him and asked, "Why? What's wrong?"

Yu Chen looked around, "Let's get something to eat."

They all got the hint and went out of the hall towards the cafeteria.
