Tragedy has befallen the Mo family

Si Xia and Yu Chen spent the night at the hospital with Mr. and Mrs. Mo. Huo Zenghai was called back by his parents and he had to leave.

Despite the frequent urges by Mr. Mo, and the words between sobs by Mrs. Mo, the two refused to leave and decided to spend the night. The operation was very long, it took about six hours and was completed around half past two. Si Xia had been pacing around the corridor, Mrs. Mo was sitting on the bench sobbing, and Yu Chen and Mr. Mo had been standing at the door of the operation theatre when the light on the door switched off.

The four looked in anticipation as the lead surgeon came out and removed his mask. He said, "Who is the family of the patient?"

Mr. Mo walked upto him and Mrs. Mo looked at him. The doctor said, "Please follow me."

Yu Chen rushed upto the doctor and asked, "How is he, doctor?"

The doctor looked at the little girl before him and said, "I will first have a talk with the family of the patient. Until then, I cannot disclose anything."

Si Xia also rushed there and said, "Can we at least see him?"

The doctor's face turned more stern as he said, "No you may not."

Si Xia was about to say something to argue when he felt a hand on his shoulder. Yu Chen shook her head to signal him to be quiet as Mr. and Mrs. Mo followed the doctor into a room nearby.

Si Xia and Yu Chen stood there for some time, anxious, worried and curious. It was then that they suddenly heard scraping of a chair and Mr. Mo's worried voice. The two rushed in to see Mrs. Mo falling on the ground. Si Xia was quick to catch her and stood there, holding her with the help of Yu Chen. The doctor and Mr. Mo were amazed at presence of mind of these two kids. The doctor called two nurses who took away the unconscious Mrs. Mo, followed by a very grave faced Mr. Mo.

Si Xia turned to look at the doctor and said, "What did you say to those two?"

The doctor acted surprised, "What do you mean?"

Si Xia: "Mrs. Mo fainted on the spot, and Mr. Mo looked like he suddenly aged five years. So if you're gonna tell me that you told them nothing much...."

Yu Chen came in between the doctor and Si Xia and said, "Calm down a minute, Xia. Doctor, please. I know you think we're too small. But we can handle it."

The doctor eyed the two children. For some strange reason, at this point, the doctor felt like these two were not kids at all. It seemed like they were grown-ups in kids' bodies. He sighed and said, "I'm sure you both will not understand medical terms. So I'm going to put it simply."

He motioned for the two to sit down and said, "One of the bones on the back of the head of Master Mo had broken and pierced his brain. The brain has been severely damaged due to this."
