A chance to change

Yu Chen was dumbstruck. She swore, "What the hell Darcy? If this is a joke, I swear to god I'm gonna personally fly to London and strangle you with my own two hands."


Sam laughed aloud, "That's good. I had thought you might have changed. You haven't. At least I won't be bored to death in China."


Yu Chen: "What!?!? You're really coming to China?!?!"


Yu Chen: "That's great!! For how long?"


Sam's voice dimmed a little, "I don't know..... I just felt like coming to meet you."


Yu Chen clapped her hands, "It's great. I can show you around the city and be your tourist. When are you coming?"


Sam: "In a few days. I'll be coming after new year."


Yu Chen: "That's great!! I'm looking forward to see you again. And you can finally meet Xia now."


"Yeah. Si Xia. I can finally meet him." Sam's voice sounded a bit funny when he said that, so Yu Chen asked, "Huh, Sam? Are you all right?"


Sam's voice when came again was back to normal, "Yeah. Hey, I've got some work to get back to. Promise you'll come pick me up at the airport?"


Yu Chen: "Of course. Just text me the date and the time of your flight."


After hanging up, Yu Chen sat down with her laptop in front of her. She was really happy that Sam was coming to China. She had not known him properly the last time Sam was here. This time around, she would give him a proper tour of the city.


"Hmm, but I wonder why is he coming?" Yu Chen wondered with a finger under her chin.


She shook her head and got back to her laptop. Today she was participating in a hacking competition and she had to be in her best form for it.


New years came and went with Hua, Zenghai and Xia not getting much time off. They all celebrated New year's Eve together and Chen spent the days around it visiting Kio, Mr. and Mrs. Mo, Mo Anxia, Mrs. Xi, and Mr. and Mrs. Huo.


She was lazing around on the living room couch with a packet of chocolate wafer sticks in her hand and watching anime on her laptop.


The main door opened and Chen said, "Hey Hua, what do you want for dinner today?"


No one replied. Yu Chen sat up and looked towards the door. Xi Hua was changing her shoes as her back faced Chen.


Xi Hua seemed to snap back as she said, "Huh, what? Sorry I didn't catch that."


Yu Chen walked upto her and said, "Hua, what's wrong?"


Xi Hua stood up and started to hang her coat as she said, "Wrong? Nothing is wrong. It's just been a long day. Yeah, I know. I'm going to take a bath. And could you make some fried duck with your homemade sauce? It would be great. Thank you. I'll just have a bath and come back. Don't forget the fried duck."


As Xi Hua rushed out of the room, Yu Chen sunk deep in thought.


"Something's obviously bothering her too much. She tends to blabber and not make eye contact when she's really upset. I'll definitely have to do something." Chen thought to herself as she picked up her apron.
