Still so shy

Yu Chen leaned on Si Xia's arm and smiled, "Worried?"

Si Xia: "Of course."

Yu Chen was surprised, "Huh? Really? You don't trust me?"

Si Xia: "I trust you. I just..... don't like the look in his eyes."

Yu Chen snuggled closer to him and inhaled deeply. She loved his scent. He smelled like fresh air on a beautiful summer morning. Chen loved how he never smelled of tobacco. She hated the smell of tobacco.

Yu Chen said, "I doubt he will try anything."

Si Xia: "Why?"

Yu Chen: "Well he knows my heart is set on someone else. Has done for quite some time. I made it clear ages ago that the only thing we could ever be was friends."

Si Xia: "Let's hope that is enough to stop him."

Yu Chen: "You sound like he's some mafia don."

Si Xia chuckled, "Really? My senses are all tingling. Sending a warning to me. I guess that has just gotten me a little riled up."

Yu Chen: "Spidey sense?"

Si Xia pinched her cheek, "Stop reading so many comics. You're getting weird."

Yu Chen stuck out her tongue and messed up his hair as she laughed.

Xia's eyes darkened, "You little devil!!"

The two playfully bantered when Si Xia stopped thr car.

Yu Chen peeped out of the window with a disappointed look, "We're here already?"

Si Xia chuckled as he leaned towards Chen's seat and gave her a lingering kiss. "I'll see you tomorrow." He breathed in her ear.

Yu Chen's tips of the ears were pink as she panted, "Sure."

Si Xia smiled devilishly as he said, "Now that tasted nice."

Upon hearing this, Yu Chen turned her customary tomato red and rushed out of the car and into the building. Si Xia chuckled to himself, "Still shy." And he drove off.

A week had passed and it was already the middle of January. The wind outside was bitingly cold as Yu Chen sat curled up on the couch in her apartment, a blanket slipping off her shoulders and a cup of ice-cream melting away on the table, engrossed in something in her laptop.

Yu Chen's face was just inches away from the screen as she typed away, when suddenly the bell rang. Chen jumped and the custom laptop gifted to her by Mo Kio was barely saved from falling on the floor. Yu Chen caught it and set it carefully on the table before mumbling to herself, "Who the hell? Isn't everyone supposed to be at work at 11:00 in the morning?"

Yu Chen walked to the door and peeped before opening, "I should have known. Another unemployed person like me." She said as Sam came in, his face very red due to the cold and the top of his cap and the shoulders of his coat white with snow.

"Is it snowing outside? No wonder it's so cold." Yu Chen said as Sam hung his coat and changed his shoes.

"Yeah. Just barely." He said as he rubbed his hands together for warmth.

Yu Chen walked to the kitchen counter, "Want some coffee?"

Sam nodded and settled himself into a chair at the dining table. Chen hurriedly placed a mug of steaming hot coffee in front of him before running back to her laptop.

"Huh? What were you doing?" Sam was surprised as he followed her to the living room.
