Fate really is cruel

Yu Chen then silently sneaked out of the apartment, saying sorry to Hua to her mind innumerable times.

Chen felt like she would not last if she ran to Xia's home, so she took a cab, which took quite a long time, it being only the break of dawn, and alighted outside his bungalow.

She cleared a place of snow and waited outside Xia's front door.

Oreo obviously knew it was her and sat on the other side of the door, whining. An hour later, Si Xia came out. He was not looking down and his feet hit Yu Chen, who had been sitting just outside and upon whom Oreo had just leaped.

Chen stood up, hugging Oreo.

She said, "Xia...I-I...."

Si Xia crossed his arms, "What do you want Chen? If you want to know about that woman yesterday, she..."

Chen repeatedly shook her head and said, "No. No. I want you to listen to me."

Xia eyed her, "Okay."

Chen: "I'm sorry Xia. I really did not know that going to the dance stadium would make you so angry. I'll...."

Her words were cut short as Si Xia started laughing. He said, "You think this is about the dance stadium? Oh..... You're so naive aren't you? You don't know what else could be there? Why don't you go ask your precious friend?"

Yu Chen frowned. Friend? Xi Hua? Huo Zenghai? No. They seemed to be as clueless as her. Then who? Kio? Not possible.

She looked up to see Si Xia staring at Oreo with a frown, who was snuggling closer to her chest and trying to get his head under her coat, enjoying the warmth.

He said, "Oreo. Come on. We're going."

And he started to walk away from Chen.

Seeing that Oreo was not coming, Si Xia turned around. He grabbed him and pulled Oreo out of Chen's grasp.

"Come on." He said, taking him away.

"Xia..." Yu Chen began, one hand outstretched towards his retreating back.

Si Xia turned around with a snap, "And I'm sure you are curious about that woman yesterday. Yes. I slept with her. Happy?"

Hearing this, Chen's legs gave away and she dropped to the ground on her knees, face blank.

Oreo whined in Xia's grasp as he looked at Chen, sitting on the floor with a dead expression on her face.

Yu Chen sat for a few minutes like that. She then stood up and went to the place she had cleared of snow, and sat down again.

Chen scoffed to herself as she hugged her knees and settled her face between her chest and her knees. She had thought that it would not matter if Xia had slept with that woman just a few hours ago, and he had already confirmed it.

Fate really was cruel.

Yu Chen did not know when she fell asleep.

She was awoken by Oreo's barks coming from inside the house. They sounded weird.

Chen frowned as she opened her eyes, the sun had come out, and though not very warm, was still high up enough in the sky for her to know that Xia would already have left for the office.

Chen kicked herself for falling asleep as she hacked the security lock and went in to see what was wrong with Oreo.

As she entered, Oreo's black fur engulfed her arms as he jumped into her embrace, but Chen was shocked to see a muzzle on his mouth.
