I'm not so pathetic

Yu Chen stared open mouthed at the door for a good few minutes before she stammered, "Xi-Xia? How.....How long...How long have you been...?"

Si Xia said as he came in, "For a while."

Yu Chen nodded as she dropped her gaze to the laptop in front of her, "For how long exactly?"

"Ever since you picked up your phone to call someone." Si Xia replied in a small voice.

Yu Chen was thunderstruck. He had been standing at the door all along!!! So he must have heard her whole conversation!

She calmed herself and said, "Oh. Take a seat."

Si Xia sat on the chair that Xi Hua had previously occupied. He picked up an apple from the basket Hua had brought and began to peel it. While he focused on that task, Yu Chen stole a glance at him.

Si Xia really looked good in his work clothes. He had on a traditional formal suit with white shirt, black pants, tie and coat.

His hair were the usual messy and they fell over his eyebrows which were frowning as he concentrated. Chen's gaze wandered from his deep black eyes over his perfect nose to his perfect thin lips, now pursued a little.

Chen was suddenly struck by the fact that she had never really appreciated how beautiful Si Xia was. His every feature was perfect and looked like had been carved by the most perfect artist.

As Yu Chen was staring at Si Xia's face, he looked up for a brief second and Chen dropped her gaze, her cheeks growing hot and pink.

Xia also dropped his gaze to the plate of apple which he slid towards Yu Chen.

Chen took the plate and fumbled with a piece of apple. "Did you eat?" She asked in a small voice.

"Yeah." Si Xia replied, without much emotion in his magnetic voice.

An uncomfortable silence settled between the two that neither knew how to break. "Umm...How is Oreo?" Yu Chen tried after a few minutes.

"Good." Si Xia again replied with a single word.

Yu Chen fumbled with the piece of apple for a few seconds before she put it down and put both of her hands on her face.

"Oh my god! You can't even look at me. Can you?" She said, her voice a mix of anger and frustration.

Si Xia looked up with an enquiring expression.

Chen sighed and removed her hands from her face. When she spoke again, her voice was unbelievably calm, "Why did you even come here Xia?"

"Well...well..." Si Xia struggled for words.

Yu Chen sighed, "You don't need to feel guilty. I'm not so pathetic. I'll be fine. Hua will take care of me. So....."

Si Xia looked straight into Chen's eyes as she left her sentence unfinished. Chen thought she saw a single glimmer of a tear in his eyes, but the next second, Xia dropped his gaze.

"So.....?" He prompted.

Yu Chen sighed. "So, all I was asking for a conversation, an explanation. But if you don't wanna give me even that, it's okay. I won't bother you anymore. I...." But at this point Chen's voice broke and she stopped, wiping away tears from her eyes.

"What are you saying Chen?" Si Xia asked, not looking up.
