Chapter 9: My Dreamy Ocean

(Let's go back to present 🤗)

I am hearing something from your voice

A soft and delicate noise

I see something from your eyes

That nothing on this world can suffice.

'Lucas?'

A voice is calling him.

'Lucas? Lucas?'

It is getting louder, that kind of loud that pleases one's ear.

'Lucas! Wake up! I'm here.'

Little by little, a ray of light escaped his eyes.

'Lucas please, open your eyes, look at me.'

Now the person behind the voice is sobbing.

'Hey! At last you are awake. God truly is kind.' and she hugged him.

His eyes are still sore. He's not used absorbing and seeing huge amount of light for such a long time. He's still in pain. He's not fully recovered. But all the pain he is feeling was washed away by the breath taking sight in front of his own bare eyes. His hands make its way to the girl's face, carefully caressing it, memorizing every detail, mesmerized by her beauty like he just saw her for the first time. Even if all he can see is a silhoutte of the woman, but her features are evident that's how he knew for sure that this woman is gorgeous and is close to his heart.

'Do you feel any pain? Are you okay?'

He just drew a smile on his lips. He cannot comprehend what the woman is saying because he is currently being drowned by his deep admiration.

Colors, they say are the hardest thing to describe to a blind person. But for Lucas, this woman may not be beaming with the shades of the rainbow but her face is the hardest yet the prettiest thing his eyes has ever land on since then.

'Lucas? Can you hear me? Are you okay? You want me to call the doctor?'

'No.' at last, words managed to escape from his mouth.

'Thank goodness.' and she hugged him again.

'Truly. I am already thankful to him just by seeing and looking at you right now.' and their laughter echoed inside the room.

Escaping the dark past and heading into a bright light brought by happiness in the present. The two spent time together like they were running out of it. Stared at each other like they are looking at the wide array of stars and constellations in the universe. Laughing endlessly like smiles are unlimited. Holding into each others hands like no one's letting go. They at last found their own paradise after a long expedition full of hurdles.

Cupid would be jobless, he haven't shoot his arrows yet but these two are such a love bird longing for a nest to share to spend for eternity. One sunny afternoon on Tuesday,

'Done, look what I made.'

'Oh, what is it this time?'

'There's the sky and the sea.'

'Yes and what is special about it? Tell me.'

'Well, there is a story behind this painting of mine.'

'Go on, I'm listening.'

'You want to know?'

'Of course, go on please.'

'Long time ago, Sky was lonely and it was searching for happiness, he looked at his left but there was none, to his right and even above it, but nothing was there. He was sad, he was about to cry and then bowed down his head because of frustration and that time, he saw the ocean. It was sparkling, the movements of the little waves above it is graceful and its voice, oh so romantic. The sky was captivated on how pretty the ocean is, so the sky approached it first and this is what he said to her,

'Hi there! Can you be my friend?'

Under the sky lies the ocean, extending wide. At that time she was also feeling blue because even if she already travelled all around the world, she doesn't have someone to enjoy it with. Then suddenly he heard the sky's calling.

'Hey! I'm here, right up above you.'

'Above?'

'Yes, look up here.'

'Oh there you are. Hi.'

'Hi, I'm Sky, you?'

'I'm Ocean.'

'I'm looking for a good friend, can you be my friend?'

'What a coincidence? I'm looking for a friend too because I feel lonely these days. I would love to be your friend.'

'Really? Thank you my new found friend.

All day and all night, they just talk to each other about everything under the sun. In short, everyday is a clear sky because Sky is always in a good mood, meanwhile the ocean is ever calm because Ocean enjoys talking to Sky almost all the time. At days when they ran out of topic, they just stare at each other and silently thanking the Almighty for giving them companion. However, they grow tired of just looking above and below, Sky wants to touch Ocean, he want to feel those little waves, the coldness of the water, Ocean too, she wants to touch those puffy and stuffy white clouds in Sky's face. One day, they decided to be with each other. They were both determined. Ocean combined all her might creating the biggest waves she thinks is enough to reach the sky, but she failed. Sky made one of his clouds come down as close as possible to the ocean but even him failed. Their sadness are evident, it started raining.

'Don't be sad Sky, at least your tears can reach me.' she tried to joke around.

'So you mean I have to cry everyday?'

'Of course not.'

'Maybe this is our fate, we are bound not to be with each other.'

'A happily never after?'

'Maybe. We all did the best we can, this, this is our ending.'

'No don't put limits to yourself.'

'I wish I could, but we have to accept this ending.'

They were both feeling the sadness, all of the world's weight are upon them. Ocean looked away and there she saw something, it was something from the distance. There she discovered the place where the sky meets the ocean. Since then, up until this very day, the horizon became their meeting place and a witness of their admiration for each other.'

'I thought that story will have a tragic end but I'm glad it was a happy ending.'

'They are just like us.' Lucas whispered.

'Us? How come?'

'You came when I was down. You made my days happy. You were there when everything is imperfect. You became my refuge, and you made me belie--'

'Believe that limitations are made by oneself and that you can do everything you want if just you trust in yourself.' she continued.

'Exactly. Here, keep this.'

'Really? Thank you, Lucas.'

'I am me again because of you. This painting cannot suffice all of the things you've done for me.'

'More than me, thank yourself for being brave and overcoming the dead ends of your life.'

'Thank you...'

He sprung out of his bed and rubbed his eyes.

'What does that dream mean and who was that girl?' he uttered half-asleep.
