Juan Canyun and the Lady of Calamity both squatted in the corner of this space, maintaining a short distance between them. This distance wasn't very far, but it wasn't very close either—it was precisely the distance where the Lady of Calamity couldn't reach Juan Canyun with an outstretched arm.

For Juan Canyun, this was a safe distance.

"Fancy a drink?" the Lady of Calamity picked up a bottle of rum again, trying to hand it to Juan Canyun sitting next to her, but Juan shook his head rapidly.

"Not interested."

The Lady of Calamity could tell that Juan was avoiding her and trying his best to dodge conversation with her.

This seemed strange to the Lady of Calamity because Juan was not a coward. He had displayed courage in battle far beyond that of the weak-kneed sailors under her command.

Yet, in his interactions with strangers, Juan behaved like a child who hadn't seen much of the world.
