"Hey thanks for helping me find this guy, Shiranui." Zenkichi said with a grin as he patted the long white mane of a russian wolf hound and the red diamond on its forehead before handing it over to its owner. With a wave of his hand to them, he turned to walk away.
"Shishishi. Hitoyoshi-kun, what are friends for?" Shiranui chuckled with an ever wide smile on her face as she walk by his side. She pointed her finger to her chin, thinking out loud, "Though, how were you able to easily tame a Borzoi so easily?"
Zenkichi lied with a straight expression. "It just loved me, I guess."
"Eh? I don't believe you." Shiranui threw a disbelieving gaze at him and stuck out her tongue playfully.
Zenkichi chuckled and ruffled her head, in his heart he knew that his friend had a lot of questions she wanted to ask him but she, for some reason, decided otherwise–he appreciated her for that. He wasn't going to tell her or anyone soon about his system or that he inherited a superhero's skills and memories to explain his unnatural skills, no one would believe it except for his mum and Medaka.
They're just that trustworthy of him, or plain crazy to believe him.
Also, yes. For some odd reason, Clint had the skill and memory of taming a freaking Borzoi. A Russian hound
Though knowing who his partner and best friend is, Zenkichi was unsurprised.
'But it wouldn't be long until someone, mum or Medaka especially, asks me about how I got the skills and experience of a trained spy and assassin.' Zenkichi thought as he narrowed his eyes in deep thought. 'I can easily get away with my changed personality with the 'I grew up' excuse but not about the high level government agent skills. I'm not Medaka-chan that can copy any techniques like a fucking Uchiha. Hm. Should I just tell them that I got these skills because I was unknowingly a powerful sleeper agent and I had just 'woken' up?'
Just thinking about just a B-rated plot movie excuse almost made him cringe. Almost. Because it kinda sounded like a cool idea...
Before he could continue with that line of thought, Zenkichi was snapped out of his thoughts as he felt his hand in pain. He looked towards Shiranui, her head turned away not facing him.
She was pouting.
"Hmph!"
"..." Zenkichi stared at her.
"Hahahaha... Sorry, sorry. Your reaction was just too cute for me to not laugh. Sorry." Zenkichi immediately apologized when he saw Shiranui snapped her head back towards him with a fierce glare. He wiped a tear away from his eye and apologized, again. With a smile on his face, discreetly, he moved his hand behind him and took a coca cola out of his inventory and place by the side of Shiranui's face. "Here, as an apology."
"Hmph! I know you're bribing my forgiveness." Shiranui harrumph once more, her arms crossed in front of her chest. She didn't look at the insufferable classmate besides him, well, she did discreetly took glances at the thing near her.
Zenkichi raised an eyebrow. "Well, is it working?"
"...Damn right it is." Shiranui grinned and snatched the coke out of Zenkichi's hand with a blur of her hand and she cranked it open and drank it in one swift movement. "Huh? This tastes better than it normally is for some reason."
Zenkichi merely chuckled and headed towards the cafeteria, as lunchtime had started. Shiranui didn't think about much anymore and continued drinking as she followed her friend. Hey, if it's good, don't question it.
They both ordered their meals and took their seats in a random table. Zenkichi had a normal amount meal of rice, noodles with hot spices, pieces of fried chicken and a carton of apple tea. He smiled at the meal in front of him, clapped his hands together once, and started eating at a normal pace. While he ignored the gluttonous demon by his side eating at a inhumane speed.
He already knew that his friend wasn't normal, seriously, no normal human could eat a meal fit for thirty people while eating it like she were a vacuum, and she also shows no signs of getting fat: she's still looking like a thin and cute loli for christ's sakes. The only person that he could compare Shiranui to would be Medaka. Zenkichi had found it in the original's memory about the time when the latter join a food eating contest, with a prize of something really awesome but he didn't really thought much about it, and they said that anyone who could the most would win. They told everyone that they could keep supplying the participants with a lifetime supply so there was no worry of food running out by someone before someone else could try to overtake their score.
But it didn't matter at all as the purple haired teen just ate all of their food supply in half an hour: breaking a world record of eating the most food a person can eat under an hour.
Most of the time, Zenkichi wonders to himself if this world was an anime and Medaka was the op main protagonist, cause there was no way in hell can anyone explain that unscientific phenomenon: it really opened his eyes of how someone can fit all that food in one's mouth. Just remembering gave him chills.
Shiranui isn't a normal person. He was certain that she has an abnormal ability and she also knows a lot of privy things in the academy, the Flask Plan for example, despite her innocent and mischievous persona she constantly displays around people, he had noticed the times she shows her hidden self.
She was someone that knew the true darkness of this world, with intelligence and cunning to be ten steps ahead of someone, who had twisted morals and principles that people would get disgusted about, she was someone who wouldn't hesitate to do anything to get her goals done.
Shiranui slightly reminded him of a certain red head that sometimes appears in Zenkichi's third memory set.
The ends of his lips curled up into a smirk as a sudden thought came into his mind.
'The loli widow.'
He almost busted a gut and laughed out at the joke but he controlled his emotions enough to only let out an amused chuckle.
Shiranui frowned and stopped her momentum of eating another bowl of ramen as she stared at the boy by her side in suspicion. For some reason, she didn't know how, but she felt like she was being made fun of and the culprit was the one besides her.
Without any words of warning, she kicked Zenkichi's shin below the table which made him flinch. He didn't really feel any damage from it but the action did startle him; he sometimes forgot that he has a body with superhuman resilience and durability.
"What's so funny?" She said with a accusing tone of voice that demanded answers and would get violent if she doesn't get it.
Zenkichi forcibly smiled and came up with an excuse to placate the little devil, "It's just something I remembered from this TV show I watched recently."
Shiranui raised an eyebrow, not believing him, she put down her ramen and asked. "Oh? Hitoyoshi-kun, pray tell, what TV show was it that it made you laugh to yourself like you were crazy."
Zenkichi grunted. "You don't have to insult me, you know?"
"So don't just laugh out of nowhere."
"It was a chuckle." He retorted.
Shiranui rolled her eyes. "Tomato, tomato–same thing. So," She put her elbow on the table and rested her chin on her fist as she stared at him. Her eyes staring at Zenkichi intently like she wanted to drill a hole into his head. "spill. What got you chuckling?"
Zenkichi stared, cold sweat dropping down his face.
For a moment, for a single moment, he saw a giant mass of complete darkness with entirely white soulless eyes, sharp jagged teeth and open mouth to show an endless abyss of nothingness in front of him instead of Shiranui.
He blinked and the terrifying image disappeared.
'What the hell was that?! Was that Shiranui's abnormal ability? Fuck. It's something that can't be underestimated, just a glimpse of it almost made me follow my instincts to attack her with everything that I have.'
Zenkichi thought he wouldn't be surprised by anything in this school anymore, he has time magic now after all, he thought he could handle anything this school would throw to his face. But that thing... it scared him.
What he didn't know about, was that he was going to think about that line of thought many more times in the future.
It took everything in his self control to not just stand up and walk away from Shiranui, because he knew that in doing so 'something' would happen to him. And he didn't want to find out what that 'something' is.
With sweat raining down on his head like shots of a machine gun, Zenkichi coughed into his fist and tried to say something but he caught someone at the corner of his eye. "Uh, oh look. A random background character is coming towards us with the intent to give us a quest."
Shiranui narrowed her eyes. "You think I'm stupid or something Hitoyoshi? This isn't some RPG video game–"
"Hey Hitoyoshi-kun, you heard about that Kanoya-senpai, that guy whose wrist you almost ripped off of? Yeah. His starting some sort of revolution with his underlings to take the student council, which is you guys, down. Although this has nothing to do with me but their loud noises they make when they do their meetings keep disrupting our club's training, think you can make them stop?" Hyuga, with a tray of his own lunch, came to sit in front of Zenkichi.
"..." Both Zenkichi and Shiranui stared at him. And for some odd reason, the former could hear a ding sounding in his head.
"I stand corrected." Shiranui said with a deadpanned expression.
"...Why the fuck are you here man?" Zenkichi said, incredulously. Although he was thankful for the guy's arrival, he was confused as to why he was sitting with them. He didn't know the guy that well and he sure as hell wasn't planning to be his friend.
Hyuga had a blank face emoji.
