The Healing Spring was a secret place between Granny and myself. The child had brought the being here to tend to his wounds and aid in his recovery. He remained disguised as a rabbit. Even if they were away from the border, and the Darklands, she didn't want to assume a thing. She changed his overall body and appearance, however, she had no idea if his power was present or not. Either way, she only needed thirty minutes for his injuries to heal fully. They could get moving again after that.
The right eye of the rabbit slowly began to open and blink into focus. Saying and doing nothing, the child remained still as he took in the new surroundings. He certainly would have questions, but recovering was more important than answers. His eyes finally fell on her.
"Did you rescue me, child?" He asked without opening his rabbit mouth.
'The spell must have created a bond between us due to the situation at hand, ' she reasoned before silently nodding her head.
She expected him to say more, but he just relaxed against her fully. The acceptance he showed eased her tension as she sat down with a sighed. The child took a brief nap during those thirty minutes, then continued her track home. Granny had brought up the discussion of getting a familiar. A partner that will protect and serve as they both grew together through the trials and errors of life. She could keep him safe and undetectable if he was made familiar.
She may not know what he was or where he came from in the Darklands, but he showed the child trust. The child will return it in kind. They reached the house just as the rabbit looked up at her and gave a smile. Granny wasn't home yet as expected. The kid laid her cotton-tailed bundle down on my bed. It was a twin-sized bed. Granny said she would grow into it eventually. That was beside the point; she left him to rest while she got the ingredients cleaned and ready for the project at hand. She hopes that Granny likes it.
