Training the Girls
Radley talked to Adrian about a pick-axe, which Adrian gladly provided. Then he inquired with Diff, "So where can I find this, uuhm Comic, comisium…how the hell do you even pronounce this word. Comixicium?"
"A rather large deposit has been found just below the cavern. There is a tunnel leading to its location. Caution. The tunnel might be home to unwanted entities, though it is unconfirmed."
Great, this could get ugly in all honesty. Dragging the girls along might not have been such a good idea. He decided to request a shovel and then a headlight that Adrian gladly gave. Adrian had to give him the good news, "Oh by the way. I told a few people about your exploits during the battle and we have all agreed to name the bridge after you."
Radley really didn't need that unwanted attention, "Sorry, I'll pass. I don't need the attention."
"Come one, we won't be using your real name. People actually kicked against that one but they did agree to the name Loner."
Radley slapped his own forehead, "Do whatever the hell you want. I don't particularly care for that name. It was just something I came up with on the spur of the moment, but I will stick to the creed of it."
"Well, whether you like it or not the bridge is going to be named. The Loner's Bridge. Well, go on. The world waits for no one."
Radley nodded and got his things together, "So, you girls ready to move out."
The girls all replied in agreement. It was time to set off.
They went down the stairs where they met up with Blobby who was patiently weighting in the undergrowth. Radley looked around for a level four. It was a perfect balance. Challenging enough for the girls yet easy enough for him to defend them if the fight got hairy. Not long after they actually came across something. It was a bat. A massive one larger than a fully grown human, "I take it that was the bats that were actually considered dangerous for children in your town, Kai?"
A little bit of dread formed in Kai, "We aren't going to be taking that thing on?"
"Yip, the three of you are going to. I will just keep an eye."
She swallowed hard, "I don't think it's possible. The bats here are usually between level four and eight."
"In any and all of those cases, you still have me."
"Well? Go on, attack."
While it was a bat in the most traditional sense, it was sporting two horns that were bioluminescent. It also had a small blue light on its chest. The bat in all was also a striking sky-blue with white coloring. Lv.4, Cornu Arida, Mischievous nature. Aura: Blue. So a speed type, "Heads up, it's a fast one have your wits about you and support each other."
Kai had an interesting weapon of choice. A double-bladed glaive which has excellent reach and overall attack. She was quite adapted to it as well as she moved with a rehearsed style. Radley actually saw some potential in that with team tactics. Two offense types: One close, one medium. And of course the long-range Rita. Rita fired a few shots towards the bat making it take flight. The bullets hit home but it wasn't attacking. Radley found that strange. He told Rita to jump onto his arms so he could send them towards the creature. The creature was easily able to avoid her. This pissed of Radley to no end as he grabbed a stone and used his power slam ability and send the rock toward its wing. The creature could barely react as the stone connected. It plummeted to the ground as it used its sonic blast ability. Radley did the exact same thing, canceling it out. The creature lunged forwards as Radley intercepted the attack with his shield. The girls all barraged the creature. Kai then used an ability similar to Radley's power slam. It hurt the creature but it was clearly not enough. Elita followed it up with her mirage blade which endued in a flurry of slashes. Radley dove out of the way so that Rita could use her power shot on the animal's eyes. It blinded the animal which screeched very loudly disorienting everyone. Radley shut it up with a very powerful slap. That actually made Kai laugh.
It annoyed Radley for a bit, "Kai, get your head in the game. This isn't a laughing matter."
The now blinded creature heard her laughter and pounced towards her. This freaked her out but just before the creature could finish her off it was pulled back by Radley, "See what I mean. I should have let this thing chomp your ass. Now stop fucking around."
She nodded and stood up and followed up with another power slam, but this time she reversed her blade and aimed for its gut. That did a lot more damage. Radley nodded. She has good instincts. The bat spits something out as it headed towards the sound of the gunfire. Radley intercepted it before it landed. It looked like it was toxic. It then pounced again on Kai. Radley wasn't close so he had to throw his axe. The axe did a massive amount of damage. The creature screeched in pain. Elita jumped onto its back as it tried and failed to fly away with his broken wing and now hurt body, and stabbed it in the throat. The creature went down as Radley stopped Elita from finishing it off, "Kai, finish it off."
Kai nodded as she jammed the blade in its neck with her ability. The creature finally succumbed. Steam started to rise from her body as she fell to the ground in agony. She had just leveled up. Kai was sweating pretty heavily, "Good lord that hurts. I hope my first time won't hurt as much. I ain't particularly fond of pain."
Radley nodded, "Good…" and slapped her upside the head. Which hurt her a lot, "You would have been dead a few times over if I wasn't around. This isn't fun and games. This is survival. Next time I will punish you even harder."
Her head drooped as she formed a repentant face.
"As for you too. Excellent work."
They both smiled gleefully. Blobby slowly came up from behind. Radley wanted him to stay out of the fights until the girls were strong enough.
