Wild magic

Shocked at the strange happenings the group of youngsters looked horrified at what had just happened. Unsure if they should advance or not towards this strange occurance.

Richard on the other hand was horrified for a completely different reason.

How could he be so stupid!

He had created his stable runes from his memory. There was a huge problem with creating spell runes from his memories that he in his haste had overlooked. They were spell runes based on the usage of mana, he had created and tried to use such runes in a world devoid of mana.

While his innate spell was perfected by the universe itself, having awakened and used it in this world it had adapted itself to this new energy source on its own. His four stable spell runes however was made by himself and would therefore not adapt on their own to this new world. It should be easy to rectify this problem by simply studying the innate spell rune and then apply the new information he could gleam to the stable runes.

However he would be forced to first destroy the stable runes and then recreate them from scratch. While an easy task for one such as himself it would still take hours and he would need to dive into his mental space and thus leave his body defenseless for the entire time it would take him to do this.

For now his spells however seemed to work, though he had no idea what effect they would have and the spell he had just cast seemed to closely resemble wild magic. Wild magic was as named wild in nature, and was used by a certain eccentric group of wizards that because of certain reasons instead of using mana in their spells for some reason used the force of chaos instead.

The effect his spell had just displayed was a common occurance while using wild magic, but it could just as easily make a spell to create drinking water turn a forrest into a desert, or when using the ninth tier spell summon meteor turn the caster into a chicken.

Richard was terrified at even trying to use any of his other spells or even the same spell again because of the prospect of what could happen.

Because of his mistake he was now stuck beside a group of would be treasure hunters, with spells he didn't dare to use and a kitten for a familiar.

He must have been dropped as a baby to not remember such a basic mistake while creating his spell runes.

Trying to appear relaxed Richard was panicking on the inside as he for the first time realized that he was most likely royalaly screwed if things turned hostile in this situation.

The youngsters on the other hand had completely forgotten the very presence of Richard believing him to be a poor mortal that had simply been attracted to the heavenly tribulation as they were.

None of them talked however as they were all unsure on how to proceed. After a few minutes a smile appeared on their faces as they all seemed to have come to the same conclusion, if they didn't dare to go forward why not send the little urchin ahead to test the waters?

Before they could voice their orders, Richard having seen their unfriendly looks steeled himself as he decided to have another try at the minior illusion spell, hopefully another color change was all that would happen.

As if another part of the forrest was made out of glass, cracks appeared in the air and a bright light seemed to try and escape from the cracks. With a bright flash a large flower with yellow petals surrounding a dark field of what looked like black seeds, in its middle a much larger seed that looked like a small ruby as it gave of a red shine.

Suprisingly the flower stood straight up and using its roots as legs while it looked around hastily before turning around and using its roots to run into deeper into the forest.

Looking dumbfoundly at what had just happened the group of youngster had again forgotten about Richard.

"Go! Go after it!"

"It must be a high tiered magic herb seeing as it can run on its own!"

"Were gonna be rich!"

All of them ran after the flower shouting happily while leaving Richard behind on his own.

Releasing a breath of relief at nothing to bad happening Richard went on his way to find a quiet place to fix his faulty runes.

At the same time Bai was left mewling alone as it complained to Richard for letting such a treasure run away from their grasp and let a bunch of snot nosed brats have a go at it. It threateningly flashed its claws telling how it could have easily handled them. Ignoring his new familiar with its grandiose thoughts of power Richard continued onwards away from this place.

In the following days the cultivation world was shocked out of their wits as rumours spread that a high tier magic herb with its own intelligence had appeared after heavenly tribulation had struck an area.

Small disagreements between the participating powers turned into scuffles which then turned into full blown out battles as everyone tried to grab it while preventing others from taking a part in the chase.

New harted was sown between the different sects and clans as the green grass turned red with all the blood being spilled. Eventually the royal family had to step in to prevent civil war at the same time the reason for this unrest, the magic herb had mysteriously dissapeared. Complaints that the royal family had stolen it for themselves was voiced.

But at least these few weeks of unrest had not started a civil war, however unbeknownst to everyone a person of fate had swallowed and survived the incoming torrent of power the magic herb had held.

Richard on the other hand had spent most of this time fixing his spell runes and traveling towards a big city so he was left in the dark to the major changes he had brought to this world.
