Changing appearances (4)

Ying pulled the strange garment called a 'turtleneck' over his head, struggling a bit as it got stuck. Was it really supposed to be this tight? With some more fumbling he finally managed to his head free and drag the garment down over his torso.

He felt a bit undignified, after all he was an immensely powerful immortal, and yet here he stood changing into strange garments just because a girl had told him to. Although he had to concede that it was difficult for him to deny the girl in question anything.

Grabbing the trousers the girl had given him, he proceeded to pull them on. He surveyed himself briefly in the mirror, then looked longingly at his discarded robes. A frustrated sigh escaped his lips. The common men's clothes of this world were so strange. He would much rather stick to his usual attire.

With a slight frown on his face, he gathered up his robes and reached a hand up to undo his hairpin. His jet black hair fell down in a mass around his back. For a moment his eyes lingered on the hairpin, memories of the past coursing through his mind. With a faint smile on his lips he lay the hairpin carefully down on top of the folded robes. With a flick of his wrist, the bundle disappeared into thin air. Next, a thin band appeared in his open palm, which he used to tie up his hair in a topknot.

Ying exited the bathroom to find the girl waiting outside, her feet shifting impatiently. His awkwardness quickly turned to self-satisfaction, as he saw the girls stunned reaction to his new appearance. He fought to hide a smug smile. How handsome must he look to her eyes for her to stare like that? It was so adorable how she tried to hide how attractive he was to her. A warm feeling spread from his heart, as he flashed her a wide smile.

Seeing Ying's smug smile, Emma knew she had been caught gawking. She tried her best to feight nonchalance, but was not quite sure she had pulled it off.

The change of clothes had of course not done much towards diminishing Ying's handsomeness. The plain black turtleneck hugged his broad frame in all the right places. And the dark blue jeans highlighted his long toned legs. Emma had not noticed his legs before, since they had been hidden under the knee length folds of his robes. She was quite distracted by the sight.

Her eyes lifted to his hair tied up in a 'man-bun'. Surprisingly, it worked well with the outfit. He actually looked very modern an stylish.

Aware of her scrutinising gaze, Ying spread his arms. "Well? How do I look?"

"Acceptable," Emma deadpanned. Without another word she turned and headed towards the apartment entrance.

Ying chuckled, and followed her out the door.
