The Mystery Woman 4

SEAN'S POV

"Sean, I would no longer be able to meet you for a long time," she told me after our heated session in the sand. I was holding her close to me as we laid by our side.

"Why?" I placed my elbow in the beach mattress to raise my head and look at her.

"Please, don't ask. We already agreed on this."

"Why? Your boyfriend is coming home?"

She did not say a word, and I took her silence as an affirmative answer.

"What about us, Calla? What will happen to us?" I raised my voice, but that didn't conceal the desperation in my tone.

"There's no us, Sean."

"But Calla, I know it's too early to say this, but I am a hundred percent sure that-"

"That you love me?" she laughed hard after she finished the sentence for me.

"What's funny?" I snapped. What could be so funny in putting an end to this beautiful thing that happened to us?

"There's no such word as love, Sean. If there is anything between us, that is called L.U.S.T."

"Calla, I'm serious."

Calla pinched my nose before planting a kiss on top of my head. I just stayed in my position, admiring her beautiful physique under the moonlit night. To my frustration, she stood up and grabbed her clothes. Before I could stand up, she ran to the secret entrance, and before closing the door, she called out to me. "Goodbye, Sean."

I was caught off-guard. It was already too late when I ran after her. She already closed the steel gate, and I did not dare to make a scene. I understood that she hid something and crashing off her territory might put her in danger. I could never forget what her aunt Cynthia told me that she left Eric for someone more wealthy and powerful. Probably, her current boyfriend owned this place, and maybe, he hid her there.

"Is her boyfriend a married man?" I asked myself as my gaze bore through that steel barrier between her and me. I could feel she was still there, listening to every movement that I made and observing my every reaction.

I finally left the place when the sun started to peep behind the black-and-grey horizon. Perhaps, she was right when she said from the very beginning that I should not involve my emotion. Now, I am paying the price for not heeding to her warning. My drooping shoulders were as heavy as my heart as I made my last glimpse on that fence that separated Calla and me. And I got afraid that it would be forever. She was just using me in easing up her loneliness while I considered her as the most beautiful part of a dream that I wouldn't want to wake up.

While leaning my back at the car, my phone vibrated. I pulled out my phone from my sling bag and checked the caller's name. It was Philip.

"Sir, I'm sorry-" I could picture Philip in my mind clenching his fists as he took his courage to tell me, perhaps, about his discoveries.

"Philip, what is it? It will help me if you're going to tell me the truth."

"Sir, Miss Calla Rivera is not the woman you're looking for."

I stared into my phone with curved brows. He couldn't be wrong! I took a slow, deep breath to conceal my disappointment. I took a long vacation to fulfill a dying man's wish, only to get the information that she was a mistake.

"Miss Bianca Rivera was previously married to another man before her relationship with Mr. Albert Nelson. And Miss Calla Rivera is their daughter."

I tossed my head on top of the backrest of the car. I had promised my dear old man in his deathbed that I should not fall in love over the wrong person. It may be a difficult decision, but I owed him my whole life.

"Then, who?" I asked, followed by a sigh of frustration.

"Her name is Dr. Red Nelson. She's currently in her last year of medical residency at TAG Medical Center."

I felt I was in deep trouble. How could I fall for her when Calla took my heart already? I betrayed my life rescuer, the man who made me what I am today. I could not scold Philip for giving me a false report. I was even grateful that because of him, I finally felt how it was to fall for a woman. What I did not want to happen was the fact that I was breaking a sacred promise.

"Sean, you should find her. I would be the happiest if you wouldn't be too late in finding her. I want to see you both as husband and wife as soon as possible." This was the statement of the man I adored so much, ringing again in my ear like a broken music player.

Ever since I graduated in college, this imperative statement had already become a law in my heart. I accepted this with my whole heart because my sense of gratitude was overwhelming me. I believed that our lives could be directed to the goals we set in our minds. Aside from the power of mindset, I am also the type of person who knows how to keep a sense of gratitude.

"Philip, tell me more about her. Hurry up."

Before he answered me, messenger notifications beeped continuously from my phone. I checked it out, while my ears were still inclining to what he was going to say. Several photos of a beautiful woman greeted my eyes. Her eyes were gentle, and her facial expression was soft.

"Sir, she is Dr. Red Nelson." He said, and I stared into the photo. Those pair of eyes that looked back at me seemed to speak through my soul.

"Mr. Nelson always went home to Bianca every time he stepped down from his ship. He only spent a few days with her daughter, making Dr. Red an independent person. Her nanny was the one taking care of her until he died. And according to reliable sources, Dr. Red got into a great financial setback a few years after her father died. To save her from the pit of hardship, she came up living with a prominent businessman."

My heart raced as he ended his statement. I couldn't understand why I felt terrible.

"Who?" I asked, holding my breath. I seemed to know the answer.

"Mr. Eric Martela."
