Book 2: Chapter 49

I got up from my bed and walked towards the window. Parting the curtains to the side, the blinding light of the sun piercing through the window panes made me close my eyes for a moment. I closed my eyes tightly then opened them slowly until I got adjusted to the glare. The moment I gazed into the distance, all I could see was the rich and sprawling greeneries below the wide canopy of the sky, animated by its sailing, fluffy clouds. From where I stood, it looked like I was on top of a hill overlooking the rolling stretch of farms and plain below.

I then looked around the room. My huge bed sat atop a carpeted floor under a chic ceiling design illuminated by white, LED lightings underneath a rectangular frame. Aside from a set of couches, a coffee table, and built-in lockers, only a set of television, a phone, and a refrigerator graced the room. But what caught my interest in being here was the glass walls that allowed me to see the spectacular views of the rows of trees, the colorful meadows, the layers of land terraces, and the shifting colors of the skies.

I changed into a jumpsuit, put on a jacket, and a pair of large sunglasses. I couldn't wait to know where I was. I couldn't help wondering how I came into this room when all I remembered was that I was sleeping on the plane.

The logo of the resort embossed on the glass wall in the lobby greeted my eyes as soon as I stepped down from the elevator. It was a huge place, designed with elegant couches, center tables, luxurious curtains, and minibars at the corners to serve the guests who would ask for bottles of wine or coffee while lounging at the lobby.

Red and Greens Mountain Resort.

I stared at the imprint of the resort's name on the wall as I sit down on a single couch that faced the outside view. It should have been reflective of its environment if that were Blue and Greens, instead. A waiter then approached me, disrupting my thoughts before I could stand up and go to the reception area.

"Good morning, ma'am? Anything you want for breakfast?" he said, smiling while handing me the menu list.

"Just a cup of corn coffee and some toasts," I replied, placing down the menu book on the center table in front of me."

"Alright, ma'am."

"Sir, by the way, just when has this resort opened up to the public? Everything looks new."

"Just a few months ago, ma'am," he smiled as he followed my eyes while I looked around.

"Are there many people coming here?"

"Before its opening, we're booked up for the whole year, but due to the spread of Bronc X virus, the bookings were held and postponed."

I nodded, but then he added that alerted my attention.

"But high officials and dignitaries still come here to hold meetings."

I nodded again, then looked around. On the far end of the wing, I saw men coming in.

"Sir, if you don't mind, I would like to know who brought me here. Maybe someone from the staff knows how I got into my room."

The waiter's eyes lit up, and a warm smile spread across his face. "It's your husband, ma'am."

"My husband?" I squinted my eyes, my heart starting to do some somersaults.

"Yes. He carried you, bridal style into your room."

Did Sean know I was coming into this place? Was he the one who instructed the pilot to bring me into this place? Dear skies, I couldn't almost calm down my racing heartbeats.

"How do you know?" I asked, feeling my palpitations in my throat.

"Because he said so. He even instructed all of us to take care of you while he'd be away for a while."

"To know if you are not spewing nonsense, tell me what his name is."

"It's Mr. Ian."

My goodness! Why is this man pretending I am his wife?

Then something occurred in my mind. I stared into the eyes of the waiter for a couple of seconds before I voiced it out.

"Is this resort also a property of Riddance Corporation?"

"Yes, ma'am," the waiter moved his head vigorously to my frustration.

I realized he was holding me now as a captive. Perhaps, he ordered the pilot to take me here so that he could keep an eye on me. And worst, he even pretended that I was his wife. How shameless!

At this thought, the hair all over my body started to stand on its ends. I got so afraid that one of these days, he would be crawling on my bed just as Eric did. And I was already suspecting that the mastermind behind my kidnapping was him. For him to order Eric a sex video suggested that he was a sex pervert. Good gracious, it did not even show on his face when I first met him during the signing of our agreement.

"Please tell me everything you know about him," I demanded seriously, gesturing my hand to let him sit down.

"What I know is that Mr. Ian was a former competitor of TAG Corporation. One time, he almost went into bankruptcy, but a miracle happened. He came back with a booming business later and then became one of TAG Corporation investors."

I furrowed my brows as I listened to him. As someone who never held my curiosity, I voiced my opinion.

"I guess Mr. Ian is so talkative that even a waiter knows about his story," I said, the corners of my mouth twisting into a smirk.

"I'm not just a waiter, Dr. Red, but one of Mr. Ian's trusted friend and manager of this resort."

The sound of footsteps coming in our direction with their ringing voices disrupted our moments. The manager then handed over a KN95 mask, then looked at me with a hinting gaze.

"Always wear a mask when you are with people, and preferably, put on your sunglasses."

"Let's sit down here," a familiar male voice floated in my ear. Even without turning around, I was sure the voice belonged to President Ric Abella.

My breathing became shallow as I started to conclude that President Ric Abella was indeed Mr. Ian's business ally.

The manager came in again, bringing a tray of garlic-cheese sticks and a cup of freshly-brewed corn coffee.

"Here's your order, ma'am. Just press the buzzer if you need anything," he said, rolling his eyes to the side. I understood that he was warning me to be vigilant of the men who just came.
