Taking one final look at the apartment, I leave knowing that I'll never look back.
Rushing out of the apartment, I ran across the street to a different apartment complex so that I could call a taxi. My next step was to go to my saving account and see how much has accumulated over the last four years of me being in college.
Arriving at the bank that held my savings, I go inside praying that there isn't a long line that I have to wait in.
Pulling the door open I see that there is only one other person in there getting help, realizing how lucky I was, I hurried myself to the next open bank teller and ask, "Hi! I would like to withdraw from my savings account."
"No problem just hand over your ID and your account number." After handing the lady my information I then ask "Can you tell me what my balance is in my savings account"
After waiting for what felt like a century she finally answers, "You have 15,000$ in your savings."
"If I wanted to, could I use my debit card in another country?"
"It's possible, where are you trying to go?"
"....no where… I would like to withdraw 10,000$." I don't want to withdraw all of it because there might be a time where I need emergency money. And I can search on google about spending in Japan.
After Getting the money from the bank teller I leave out to find the cab that I just got out of still outside…. I go up to the window and ask "Did I forget to pay you?"
….."YEA! YOU DID."
"Oh My God! I am so sorry...do you mind taking me somewhere else? And this time I won't forget to pay you."
While I waited for his reply, he was constantly throwing me these 'you better not be lying' stares. I just hopped in the car and told him to take me to the nearest airport.
The drive was about an hour long, so it gave me enough time to go online to my student account and switch all my classes to online classes just so that I could still graduate this year. Not only this I looked up a place in Japan where I could purchase a P.O box, that way I could send over my new copy of my debit card….just for backup. I was planning on moving to a whole other country. Therefore I needed to make sure that I had something to fall on if anything were to happen to me.
I couldn't forget to call my parents lawyer, even though I can barely remember my parents, their personal lawyer had always been there helping me. So I called him and he picked up after the first ring, "What's up Crystal? Is something wrong?" My parents' lawyer was Japanese… maybe that's why I wanted to go to Japan?
"..Yea kinda, I wanted to know if there was a way that I could get a working Visa so that I can go to Japan?" There was silence,
"At least could I get it by tomorrow?"
"Why are you trying to go to Japan Crystal?"
"No reason, I just thought that because you're the closest thing to a father to me that….I should learn Japanese. And what better way is there to learn it? It's by going there."
Another moment of silence over the phone….and this time I didn't want to say anything just in case I might ruin things for myself. The last thing that I wanted was to get turned away at the airport because I didn't have any type of visa or passport. Lawyer Yuuma finally broke the silence.
"It can be done, but it won't be ready until early morning tomorrow. Is that okay?"
Although it wasn't the answer that I was looking for, it was something, "Yes! It's perfect, call me when you're on your way, I can send you my location then."
After a whole lot of catching up on the phone, I finally arrived at the airport. The taxi fees weren't as much as I thought it would be… considering how long we had to travel. I gave him three hundred dollars and then a fifty dollar tip for him taking me here after almost not being paid his money.
