The Heavy Responsibility - Part 1

The old man took a good minute or so to stabilize after the shock he'd received. The kids were exhausted after their Soul Spirit Avatars retracted because their Spirit Power didn't live up to the challenge yet to be able to withstand the forceful summoning under the effect of the Dragon God's stimulus and they fainted.

After Xun Feng opened his eyes filled with mysterious light, the room turned silent. The elders who were present exchanged various facial expressions throughout the course of the last few minutes. Their expressions went from surprise to shock, then happiness and lastly disappointment. When Xun Feng saw their disappointed faces, he found himself taken aback.

Xun Feng: "Why are those mongrels disappointed? Shouldn't they be happy that something like this happened?!", the old man questioned himself.

He saw only two elders with hidden joy in their eyes, his two students - the Principal and the elder Lan Yao. She was happy because her own Soul Spirit had a faint distilled True Dragon Bloodline, so under the influence of the Dragon God, her blood started boiling and a strange feeling surged inside her. When other True Dragon Bloodline Soul Spirits surfaced, her blood became so restless that even with her mental strength, elder Lan became influenced as her heart filled with inexplicable pride and wild excitement.

The principal was happy for his teacher's joy and because the academy will probably become a world-shaking power now that this happened. The old glory of the academy was bound to return and maybe these monsters can even exceed the past... who knows?

Xun Feng looked at disappointed elders and asked in a heavy tone: "Why are your faces so grim, isn't this a happy event? Our academy must wholeheartedly support these children. Go call everyone to the main tower, we will be having a meeting to discuss this."

One elder that looked like a very old lady suddenly said: "I'm afraid there's no need to do that, Honored Elder Xun. Even though they all have True Dragon Blood, being unable to cultivate won't make them of any use to the academy. We will just be disclosing to the world that there are twenty four children with True Dragon Bloodline and the world may be jealous. It's best not to bring this matter up anymore or we will suffer with them together."

This elder had no idea what her words caused yet.

Xun Feng's eyes narrowed and a heavy Spirit Power pressed on all elders: "Anyone else with the same thoughts?"

Naturally, before him nobody could hide. The old lady and all of those who slightly twitched or lowered their heads found themselves joining other elders outside after the violet light faded as their heads were filled with pounding pain. The elders who were already outside saw more people appearing outside and felt an indescribable happiness that they weren't the only ones thrown out. However, when they noticed these elders were holding their heads and even moaning in pain, their backs drenched with cold sweat.

None of the elders knew that the reason for their pounding headaches was one among the chosen children whose aura suddenly surged and everything in the room stagnated as they were being transported outside. An illusory ashen-white dragon flew past the barriers of the building and stopped in mid-air above the gathering of elders outside. The dragon's black eyes with crimson stars inside flared up and at the same instant, Asura Ryuu's eyes did as well as vast Divine Power condensed into several stars inside them and shot outside, passing through the barriers as if they didn't even exist.

When these elders finally stabilized, they realized they didn't remember anything that happened after they entered the building. They didn't even remember what happened inside, as if some strange power deleted their memories.

The elders that were previously kicked outside found themselves lucky that they at least remembered some things that happened, but their happiness didn't last for long before they fell to their knees and started screaming in agony as well. When all of this came to an end, none of the elders outside remembered anything that happened after they entered the building.

-----

Inside the building.

Asura Ryuu's eyes stopped glowing and the colossal Divine Power that was surging out of him previously retreated back to his body. As it did, Asura Ryuu lost consciousness and fell down with a thud. In the next instant, the ashen-white dragon flew inside once again and disappeared between his brows as a ray of white light.

The three remaining elders finally felt freedom return to their bodies as the ashen-white glow around Asura Ryuu dissipated and a single white scale on the back of his right hand retreated back inside his body. The principal and elder Lan immediately fell down on their knees, while Xun Feng propped himself up with a staff as he stared at the shadow vanishing inside Asura Ryuu's body. He only saw a white star fly past and vanish, the silhouette of a dragon didn't reach his eyes.

The three elders could finally move again as the room returned to the previous state. Strangely enough, the children around Asura Ryuu didn't feel anything, as if the binding force surging out from the single ashen-white scale didn't target them. Xun Feng's pupils were wide enough only for a needle to pass through. He was genuinely frightened a moment ago. When he saw unconscious Asura Ryuu and Asura Tenka who was lifting Asura Ryuu's unconscious body up, his eyes seemed as if burning.

Xun Feng's mind was very chaotic at the moment: "Fuck me! What was that? Did that kid form a connection with a Devil himself?! What kind of existence can bind us while being merely a Soul Spirit of a human???"

The barriers around the building naturally collapsed as elders weren't there anymore and the violet light surged and disappeared inside the violet gem inside the staff. The ambient inside the room returned to its usual calm, only the crystal in the center seemed somewhat different judging by its aura. However, nobody noticed that because there was a more pressing question weighing on their minds now: "What do we do with these children?"

Xun Feng's facial features contorted as he leaned back into the chair and started thinking. His mind revolved with astonishing speed, trying to figure out the best course of action to take next. The scene in the room was kinda funny with so many children lying unconscious on the floor as only Asura Tenka could remain awake and leaned Asura Ryuu's body on her own, hugging him gently.

Elder Lan looked at this girl and felt something within her she couldn't explain. As if the girl before her eyes reminded her of herself. She glanced at Asura Ryuu and smiled, thinking: "This little boy has such a lovely sister. I'm jealous..."

She turned to the elder inside the chair and said with resolute eyes: "Honored Elder Xun, I want to teach these children! Please allow me to form a new class with only the twenty four of them!"

Xun Feng's eyes shot open as he stared at Elder Lan, as if wanting to convey the message: "Are you sure?"

Lan Yao nodded her head without saying anything but didn't notice the complicated eyes of the Principal that were staring at her from the sides.

Xun Feng: "Girlie, what you are asking for is a tremendous responsibility that may even dictate the fate of our world. Are you truly ready to bear it?"

Without even thinking, Elder Lan Yao closed her eyes and nodded her head. She turned her head to the unconscious children as her eyes opened once again, unyielding resolve hidden in them.

In her mind, there was only one intention: "These children... I must ensure they grow up well!"

Xun Feng smiled mysteriously and said: "Approved!"
