Tanjiro fell to the ground, exhausted and heavily wounded as he bled from different parts of his body. Hiroto quickly ran forward to help him.
"B-big bro… I did it. I stopped him from… breaking our family apart…" Tanjiro muttered, out of breath and in pain.
Hiroto's heart ached as he saw him, and said, "Yea, you did. I'm proud of you. Father would have been proud of you too."
As Hiroto said his last sentence, his gaze lifted. He then saw Nezuko being hung upside down as the threads dug into her skin, causing blood to flow down.
Hiroto paused, seeing Nezuko hurt this badly he quickly jumped up towards the threads and cut them all down. Even though the threads were tougher than the normal ones, that didn't matter in front of the angry Hiroto.
Hiroto savagely cut down the threads and grabbed Nezuko down, bringing her next to Tanjiro. Hiroto looked over her and started to tear up seeing how badly hurt his two younger siblings were. "I'm sorry… I couldn't stop you two from being hurt… I failed as your big brother." Hiroto said, looking at the bleeding wounds of the two.
Tanjiro looked up to his brother and smiled, "No, it's not your fault big bro. You didn't fail as our big brother. You kept us up in our team of need, supporting us from behind, we can't ask more from you…" Tanjiro said, smiling kindly at his loving brother.
"You…" A voice came from behind. Tanjiro flinched when he recognized the voice to be from the Demon he decapitated.
Hiroto turned around and saw the body of the boy standing up with its head hung upside down by threads.
"That bond… you are their big brother… and you care so much for them… I want it… Give me that bond." The boy said as he walked forward. "I'll have Muzan turn you into a Demon and take your sister with me… we can be a family…"
Hiroto's eyes turned into a deep shade of red as he heard the Demon. "You… you were the one that did this?" Hiroto said, trying to control his shaking voice from the anger he felt.
"Yes, I did. Your little sister wouldn't come with me willingly, so I had to hurt her and kill your little brother." The Demon said.
Upon hearing this, Hiroto's vision started to cloud over, as all he could see was the Demon in front of him and the different ways he could kill him. Taking his sword out, Hiroto slowly stood up and walked towards the boy.
"So you were the one that hurt my siblings… our mother entrusted me to look after Tanjiro and Nezuko in her stead. But look at me now, I'm standing in front of the person who hurt them. I don't care if you're a Human or a Demon, but if you ever touch my siblings…" Hiroto's sword started to ignite with flames slowly building up. The flame, instead of being red, started to turn purple.
"I will show no mercy to anyone who would bring harm to my family," Hiroto said with strong emotion as he stared down the Demon, giving him shivers when he looked into the red and purple eyes of Hiroto.
"Brother… that's the Twelve Kizuki… he's much stronger than the rest…" Tanjiro said as he struggled to get up.
"It doesn't matter what they are. The moment they laid their hands on you, they're dead men walking." Hiroto said, before lunging towards the Demon.
'Fast!' The Demon thought as he controlled the webs to block Hiroto's approach.
'Dance of the Fire God, Flash Dance' Hiroto pumped the air through his entire body and focused it into his legs and arms to dodge and slice apart the threads.
'How?! How could he cut my threads down so easily?!' The Demon thought as he stared in disbelief to Hiroto.
Hiroto arrived towards the Demon, who had it's head back on its body, and used a technique that he had thought of in the past.
'Modular Dance of the Fire God, Solar Eclipse.' Hiroto jumped up into the air and concentrated his power into his hands. From behind Hiroto looked like a raging sun growing as Hiroto blocked its view with his body.
'Wha-' Before the Demon could react properly, a wall of flames descended around him, blocking him from any chances of escaping. The Demon jumped back to avoid the flames closing in on him, but before he could he saw the shadow, or rather, the eclipse of Hiroto from above descending onto him.
Before he could react, Hiroto thrust his blade into the Demon instead of trying to behead it *shik*. "I'm not like my brother, I won't always choose to be merciful…" Hiroto said, as he took the sword out and decapitated the stunned Demon.
The Demon stared back at Hiroto's eyes but all he saw was no sympathy or regret. Just hatred for the man in front of him.
Hiroto took the needle out of his haori and took the blood from the Demons arm, before collecting it.
The cat once more appeared out of thin air, as Hiroto gave it the needle and it disappeared to deliver the needle back to Yushiro.
As the last of the flames started to die down, Hiroto went to Tanjiro and Nezuko, before hugging them. "You're both safe now… Your big brother is here…"
Tanjiro heard the calming voice of his older brother and started to relax. Nezuko's wounds started healing back as she relaxed in Hiroto's embrace.
*rustle* From the side of the forest came a man dressed in a mismatched haori. Hiroto and Tanjiro recognized him as Tomioka Giyu instantly.
Giyu watched the sibling and saw the Demon standing without its head start to walk towards the 3 siblings with his hands stretched out. 'I wanted bonds that were no longer attainable no matter what I did. I desperately tried to stretch my hands, even though they wouldn't even reach.' The Demon thought as the body fell next to the siblings.
Hiroto ignored it, while Tanjiro looked over and thought, 'I smell a great unbearable sadness from that small body…'
Eyes full of sympathy, Tanjiro reached out and patted the small body's back. The Demon's head saw this and stared wide-eyed at what Tanjiro did. 'Warm… A gentle hand like a ray of light. I wanted to apologize. I'm sorry for everything, every single thing was my fault.' The boy thought, seeing the figure of his parents appear in his mind.
'I want you to forgive me somehow.' The boy thought, before saying, "But… I killed mountains of people… I'm going to hell… I can't go… to the same place… as Mom and Dad…" The boys had teared up, as it started to disappear completely.
Tanjiro watched with his warm eyes, but Hiroto's didn't hold the same. He wouldn't forgive anyone who brought harm to those he loved, Tanjiro knew this fact and didn't blame him.
Giyu watched from the side and stepped onto the Demon's clothing it left behind. "Don't feel sorry for a Demon who ate people. It doesn't matter whether or not he had the form of a child." Giyu said emotionlessly. "He's an unsightly monster who lived for tens, hundreds, thousands of years."
Hiroto didn't say anything, but saw Tanjiro start to frown and get angry, "To dispel the regrets of those killed, to stop any more victims from appearing… I will relentlessly wield my blade against the Demons, and that's a fact." Tanjiro responded decisively.
"But I will not trample on the pains of being a Demon. Nor on those who regret their actions." Tanjiro said, "Because Demons were Humans. Because they were Humans just like me. Please get your foot off. He isn't an unsightly monster, Demons are lifeless beings. Sorrowful beings."
Giyu's eyes widened as he stared back into Tanjiro's eyes. Hiroto on the side smiled at this side of Tanjiro. 'That's right, Tanjiro… you have the purest and kindest heart in our family after all…'
Giyu looked in disbelief before saying, "You're-'' But before he could, he was interrupted, as he looked up quickly and blocked a strike from a sword. *clang*
A girl wearing a white haori with a butterfly wing pattern flipped in the air as she recovered and said, "Oh? Why are you getting in the way, Tomoka-san?" The girl said with a smile.
Hiroto also reacted but was pushed down before he could block the strike by Giyu. 'That was aimed at Nezuko…' Hiroto thought, as he looked at the girl.
Hiroto looked at the girl and saw that she had purple eyes but no pupils. Her shoulder-length hair fades from black into dark purple was fastened at the back of her head, with a white and purple butterfly ornament.
Hiroto got up and shielded Nezuko and Tanjiro behind him as he stood next to Giyu.
"You said we can't get along with Demons, but what's all this about?" The girl said, wielding her katana which was shaped into a rod and ended in a needle-like tip, resembling an insect's stinger in appearance.
"If you do this, everyone will hate you." The girl's smooth voice sounded out.
