Chapter 70: Grieve

Ikko's hands started to glow white as he held Crucifix. "I'll help you heal." Arine and Cienar then caught up to us and Ikko turned seeing that we found Cienar. He looked to him relieved. "Glad that you're okay." Cienar sighed. "Mostly..."

Arine then spoke next impatiently. "Okay! We did what we came here to do so can we get out of here now?!" I looked around trying to figure out where we were in the city. "Yes, we just need to find Johnathan and Sythyon before we leave." Ikko looked up at me. "Oh yeah, where is Sythyon? Did he find Lothor?" I shrugged. "I don't know, I guess we'll see when we find him."

I've been fighting Lothor for awhile and it was starting to get annoying how many times he was shooting poison arrows at me. They were easy to avoid even though he could control them after they were shot as well. I could tell he was getting tired of missing, and I was about to strike when he suddenly stopped.

I stopped as well not expecting him to suddenly freeze lost in thought, with a worried expression on his face. He then quickly turned around now horrified and started to run as fast as he could away from me. "NO!!" The bow disappeared and he began to fly away. I stood there confused for a moment wondering what could've caused him to freak out so randomly, and then spread my wings flying up to see where he was going and followed him.

We were about to go find Sythyon and Johnathan when we suddenly heard wings flap in the distance. I turned and my eyes widened as I saw Lothor heading towards us. "Oh no." But to my surprise, he flew right passed us and landed in front of Dagger's body. None of us knew what to do, so we just watched in surprise.

Lothor kneeled beside Dagger and grabbed his shoulders. "What happened to you?! Wake up!! You have to!! I thought you said that you'd always be there you idiot!!" Lothor started to shake and I couldn't tell if it was from anger or if he was about to cry. "I told you to wake up..." I couldn't believe what I was seeing right now. I knew that Dagger was the only one Lothor seemed to trust among his men, but the thought of them being friends completely slipped my mind. I just assumed he didn't care about anyone.

Lothor then stood up and quietly looked down at Dagger's body in front of him for awhile not moving. When he finally did move it shocked me because he turned his head directly at us. His gaze fell on Ikko who was holding Crucifix and he turned his body towards us as well. "You killed him." His voice was full of rage and his eyes were wide with anger even though they were glossy with tears. Ikko stood up letting Crucifix go. "I didn't have a choice." Suddenly sparks of grey lightning started to surround Lothor in charges and he took a step toward Ikko. "You killed my best friend..." The magic around him then burst into grey flames and magic surrounded his hands. "I'M GOING TO KILL YOU!!!"

Ikko then jumped back as Lothor shot a large lightning bolt to where he was standing. I quickly pulled Crucifix back so it wouldn't hit her either. Ikko then started to fly as he continued to dodge Lothors powerful attacks. "Ikko!" I shouted out of response and Lothor started to fly as well, not waiting a second in between each lightning bolt he threw.

Ikko tried to fight back, but didn't have time with all the mayhem that was trying to kill him at all costs. I didn't know what to do until I turned and saw Sythyon land next to us. "What's going on?" He asked and I ran to him quickly. "Lothor's going to kill Ikko!" He looked ahead at Lothor who had gone completely insane then raised his hand. Magic instantly came out towards him and wrapped around Lothor. Lothor stopped attacking as the black lightning then pulled him hard to the ground.

When the magic disappeared, Lothor got up shakily and Sythyon walked in front of him. "Don't you remember? It's me you're supposed to try and kill." Ikko hovered relieved but Sythyon froze as soon as he noticed Lothors face. Tears were flooding down his cheeks and continuing to flow even though his expression was the most angry I've ever seen him have. He ignored Sythyon and tried to fly over him to get to Ikko, but Sythyon's magic pulled him back down again.

"I DON'T CARE ANYMORE!! GET OUT OF MY WAY!!" He yelled trying to fight Sythyon's magic with everything he had. Sythyon was still in utter shock hearing him. "Don't care anymore? You dedicated your life to ruining mine. How can you just not care anymore?!" Lothor continued to struggle. "BECAUSE EVERYTHING HAS BEEN TAKEN AWAY FROM ME!!"

Sythyon's eyes widened causing his magic to falter long enough for Lothor to break free using his own. Before Sythyon could capture him again Lothor raised his hand and the unicorn horn appeared in his palm. "Don't move or I'll destroy it!!"

Sythyon froze and so did everyone else but me. I took a breath despite my fear and yelled to Lothor. "Go ahead!!" Everyone then turned to me eyes wide but I didn't care. Lothor glared at me. "Fine then." Before anyone could react, Lothor then shot a huge beam of magic out of the horn at Ikko. "AHHHHH!!" It hit every part of his body and Crucifix raised her head horrified. "Ikko!" Without thinking, I immediately shot up and flew in front of Ikko so the beam only hit me. "AHHH!!"

Everyone yelled to me but I couldn't hear over my own screaming. The pain was the worst I've ever felt before in my life and I started to feel my eyes and forehead start to glow again. Lothor glared and pushed more magic out of the horn convinced it would go straight through me and hit Ikko.

The force was unbearable as more and more magic was being shot into me. My wings then disappeared but I stayed in place, continuing to take in the excruciating pain that enveloped my whole body. 'I'm going to die.' I couldn't help thinking that over and over as a diamond appeared on my forehead glowing bright.

Then suddenly, the beam disappeared. The pain stopped and so did the light. Lothor looked to the horn in his hand that had now turned dark grey and tightened his grip so it burst into ash. I then started to fall but Sythyon quickly caught me. "Silvera!" My eyes and forehead were still glowing but they stopped hurting. I was surprised that I was still alive after that, and after the horn ran out of magic. But I was mostly surprised at how good I felt in this moment.

I didn't move or speak processing the feeling and Sythyon landed on the street glaring at Lothor. "What did you do?!" Lothor returned his glare. "I don't know. That was meant for the angel." More magic then appeared in his hands and he looked back to Ikko. "Looks like I'm going to have to finish this myself."
