Surrounded

Before heading to bed, Roderick talked with Ares about the knight of the church he found and they put him under the watch of specialized agents before he could go to sleep.

Early in the morning, Roderick took a bath, changed his clothes and was about to open his door when he saw both Ares and the Fiery-eyed Chevalier. Both seemed pretty tense, and their accelerated heartbeats and eye movement showed the signs of worry, and a bit of fear.

Ares patted his shoulder and brought him to the command center right beside his office at the top floor. While Rodering went to rest, Ares and the other guardians didn't waste time, and used the chevalier's help to hack some of the communications channel used by his country,

It took them the entire night, but Athena was successful in tracking down their trace and to their surprise they came across a shocking news. Reports from an allied nation that a strange creature made of red fluid has been spotted in the borders of their country.

The messages and text were in an unknown language, but luckily they had a citizen of Kogh Toruhm with them who could translate all of this. They were asking for reinforcements after a team of twelve Kiaj, the title given to their saints, every country had a name which they use to refer saints. They didn't know of the existence of Saints before the video Roderick showed, but this discovery made them all tremble with the thought that the church had such an expert all this while.

Ares and Athena were explaining to him when Roderick interrupted. "Let me guess, their group was killed."

"Not just that." The chevalier pointed to the world map, "The country which send this is a long-time ally of my nation. It has a total of thirty two saints and two hundred plus kings, even so they couldn't stop it. However, after killing most of the exports of that country and both humans and beasts in that area, the creature simply vanished."

"Any news of its location right now?"

"We are working on that, but it may take some time. We'll call you when we do."

Roderick nodded, then he left the headquarters and rode his flying bike to the northern sector. Soon, he appeared in the entrance to an old flat without any signs of anyone living on it for a long time. It took him some time to accept all this change, both his dad and mom who found him, his aunt who was in reality an agent of the guardians sent to watch over him.

Inside the flat, he saw everything was just like the day he left. The cauldron, books and empty bottles scattered in the room.

"Have you finished your calculations?"

"Yes, I don't like it. Being just a remnant, my divine sense can't spread as far as before, but that creature's energy signature is growing incessantly which makes it easy to detect. This planet must have used all the life force it had left to give birth to it, soon, it will be way past the level this world can handle."

Roderick had asked how big the possibility of the beast gods to defeat that creature without having him interfere. He knew no one could accomplish anything working alone, he wanted for both beasts and humans to unite in order to face this calamity, but this was even harder. Now, he had the weapon to kill the creature, and yet he could not help but hesitate.

He didn't assimilated with his memories, but he connected all the dots. He wasn't a person in this world, and the feeling he didn't belong to it only grew with time. All this time he was running away, running away from responsibility, from danger, and even from himself. It was time to change, he had to face himself and only by accepting his past could he walk forward without any fear.

As if something which had long since stopped inside him began to move once again, a loud yell sounded in his mind.

"Boy this is bad! That insane energy has appeared right here."

What?! Roderick ran out of the room, but his feet stoped when he reached the exit. His eyes stared at the sky, but all he could see was red.

In the guardians headquarters, everyone was staring at the screen full of shock. A layer of red has surrounded the entire force field around the city, and they were stuck inside it without being able to see anything outside. Reports from all the sectors said the same thing, on this scale, they finally felt defeated. What did the creature would suddenly change the destination to attack them?

Roderick then entered the office in a flash. His eye shone as he searched for Ares in the crowd. "Ares, where is Sky? Take me to him."

On the lowest subterranean floor, Roderick saw the same door as before. While Ares was curious to why he would ask for this, he didn't question because of the dangerous air he felt at that time.

Inside that old and tattered temple, Sky was in his throne just like the last time he saw him. However, Roderick wasn't here for small talk, he had a reason to come all the way there.

"Sky, do you have a device? Something that can teleport or move something, let's say with the size of an island."

Sky also wasn't the type of person who would dwell on small matters, so he went straight to the point. "Yes, there is a device like that hidden in the city for cases of emergency. It can take this entire place away, but the energy it requires is too much for us to provide."

"No, just take me to this device. I will provide all the energy needed."
