001 - Prologue

The Year is 2281, and 'The War' has been going on for a little over two centuries.

Our opponents are an Insectoid Race that suddenly appeared in 2081 in small numbers.

Their Vanguard as we called them, were insectoid creatures that resembled worker ants that had the size of a small car.

In the first couple of years, the sightings of these Insects were regarded as mere rumors or cries for attention, but that all changed when the Insect Soldiers burrowed out from the ground in a major city...

As the people panicked in the city and the local law enforcement attempted to stop the Insect Soldiers that were slightly larger than the vanguard but their small caliber weaponry barely did any damage to the Soldiers.

By the end of the day, thousands were slaughtered and the military was forced to bomb the city.

Now aware of their presence the world went on guard, and over the course of a decade, small towns were suddenly disappearing in the span of a night.

Upon investigation, all that could be found in the abandoned towns and villages were collapsed burrows just like the ones from the attack in the major city.

Although the Government's tried to cover this, the news was leaked eventually and those in the countryside flocked to the larger cities with only stubborn or old staying behind.

With few farmers left the countries spent a few years researching ways to improve agriculture and even make agricultural buildings that could feed entire cities.

During this time they were not only researching agriculture, due to the dire situation, humanity's ability to research and learn drastically improved, a dozen breakthroughs accord in several different branches of science and engineering.

As the years passed humanity found that the 'Ants' as the insects were termed, were growing in numbers, and strength...

They were even beginning to change in shape and size like they were mutating.

The Soldier Ants had several mutations, some gained flight in the trade of a smaller size, some gamed large heads allowing them to break through thick walls, and others gained stingers that allowed them to fire sharp chitinous projectiles.

By the time 50 years passed since they first appeared Humanity had long since grown past what they used to be, but the Ants kept up with them.

Cities fell and cities rose as time passed and Humanity grew as a whole with most cities uniting under a Council of City Lords.

And the cities that were not a part of this council soon fell...

With 18 Cities left in the world, the world is almost completely united, but there would always be Strife.

To prove superior, the cities began competing in several different ways, military might, technological power, and/or economic power.

And due to this Strife, 100 years later, none of them were prepared for the sudden attack of the Ant's.

A Massive Horde attacked the cities killing a fourth of all the humans left on the planet, they burrowed from underneath their feet and broke through their walls, and began to slaughter every man, woman, and child they could see.

But, after 3 of the cities fell, they were able to push them back and find out where their nests were!

With this astoundingly great news, Humanity celebrated and with the City Leaders at the helm, began preparing to push them back.

The Ants were numerous and could found everywhere outside the walls, and Humanity's first goal was to clear out as much land as possible from the ants.

So the Council's army was formed, soldiers that were both Physically, Genetically, and Technologically Enhanced to the levels of a Super Soldier with the ability to react incredibly fast, fight for long periods of time, and personally have the power to fight one of the Ants and win.

They were armed with Technological Power Combat Armor and given handheld Railguns, Energy Shields, and Tungeston Spears that could pierce the exoskeleton of an Ant.

Not only that but they were enhanced with a Neural Implant and several other kinds of implants that could strengthen them, make them faster, or even heal faster.

Of course, these Super Soldiers had to each so much food to physically maintain their body that the Scientists under the council had to make a type of food that was small and contained so many calories that the soldiers could fight for hours before needing to eat again.

With these Soldiers clearing the Soldier and Worker ants became a breeze, well that was until they met the Ant Hunters...

A type of ant that could turn invisible and was equipped with two blades that could easily tear through the Soldier's Power Armor.

Then once humanity found out how to fight against the Hunters, another new variant appeared the Juggernauts.

Large Ants that were even larger than Semi Trucks that had armored plating that could resist even Railguns and long horns that could easily pierce through thick cement or Power Armor and finally, large and dense muscles that allowed them a great amount of strength and speed.

Over the years as they got closer and closer to the Nests more and more variants continued to appear that allowed the ants to fight back.

But Humanity was slowly pushing them back one month at a time.

And they even managed to start clearing out some of the smaller nests and met the Queen variant!

A Giant Ant that even put the Juggernauts to shame, these beasts had the height of several stories and the strength to defeat an entire squad of elite soldiers easily.

But the Queens were still slain in the end.

Now after, 198 Years of Conflict with the Ants, Humanity has finally pushed back to the final Colony, and also the largest colony of all, It was the Main Colony...

And between the Colony's multiple entrances and the forts of Humanity, was Dead Man's Land...

If Humanity even tried to advance further they were either attacked lethally from a long distance by some Variants called 'Snipers' or would step right onto a 'Lurker' Variant that hid underground and dragged anyone above it down underground.

And when Humanity tried to bomb and even at one time, Nuke the Colony, the Colony made aerial defenses!

It was absurd!

So far they had tried to go by land, air, but they didn't try to go through the tunnels underground.

So, a Battalion was assigned a mission, 400 Elite Super Soldiers armed with the best humanity had to offer, and were given a portable Hydrogen Bomb that had the power of 1,000 Nuclear Bombs and although the Soldiers knew that this would be a suicide run that none of them would be returning from, they signed on anyway.

And so, to distract the Ants Humanity launched the offensive while the Battalion used the distraction to enter the tunnels!

Although many would die today, the war would finally be over!

...

Hours later only 8 men remained of the Battalion...

But, they made it to the Queen's Chamber...

They didn't get too far though as a Gigantic Queen Sat before them in slumber.

The Ant Queen must have been around the size of a sky scrapper and the remaining soldiers were puzzled at how such a being could exist on earth.

But they didn't question for long, they had a duty and they would complete that duty until their dying breath...

"Luke, start the timer...let's send this bitch to hell," The Captain of the Soldiers as he looked at a young blond-haired man carrying the large bomb on his back.

"Yes, Sir! I will need some time to activate the bomb!" Luke informed his captain.

"Okay, everyone protect Luke and the Bomb! No matter what we cannot let any of those bugs past us!" Shouted the Commander as a new wave of insects began charging at the soldiers from the way they came that was littered with the bodies of their comrades and the insects.

As they started firing their weapons Luke, got to work on activating the bomb.

The bomb had a long activation process to ensure that the Bomb would not activate prematurely and only explore part of the Nest, this way there was a guarantee that the entire nest would be destroyed, leaving no survivors.

Finally pushing a glowing red button on the screen Luke shouted, "It's activated! 1 minute on the timer!"

Then Luke jumped up to help his comrades hold off the swarm of ants that rushed towards them.

But as his comrades started dying around him until only he was left he turned around to find the timer was only at 10 seconds remaining and he was out of ammo.

Tossing away his railgun he pulled out his Tunston spear and began stabbing and slashing as many Ants he could until he was completely swarmed and eaten alive.

In his final moments, he watched as the timer ticked down.
