A FAILURE

Mr Han began to help David in his training. The first day could be described as the most treacherous experience of David's life. Mr Han said the training regime he had to follow was personally devised by his father to train prospective recruits for the academy. The training regime started with fortification training.

Unlike its name, the process was incredibly bloody. Mr Han simply brought a specifically designed stick. "This is something created by the combined efforts of your father and me. We created it with a special element found within the gates. This is called Tedenite."

"Among other properties that this magical element holds within, the most prominent is its energy-absorbing qualities. A huge amount of energy can directly be absorbed by this element, and it gets heavier by every single unit of energy."

"What is it used for?" David couldn't help but be apprehensive about what this stick is used for.

Mr Han smiled and raised it. To David's surprise, his figure vanished right in front of his eyes. The next thing he felt was a huge gust of wind rushing towards him, as a thin object was whipped upon his body. He directly fell from the pain experienced, and a huge scar developed with blood flowing out of it.

Before David could say anything, multiple lashes were raining on him in every direction. The lean body was soon lying in a small pool of blood. David had lost consciousness a long time ago.

Mr Han stood there without even a hint of hesitation in his eyes. A man soon appeared beside him. "Prepare the medical bath, and we will start the body enhancement procedure now. Let's hope the formula which Xiao was experimenting with is capable enough of advancing David's physique."

"The leader ordered the use of high-grade body enhancing genuine portions. Isn't using a drug which has not even been la tested against both the norms and the orders." The man spoke up.

"The portion was something which Xiao invested most of his time in. It was created as a result of a recipe he got his hands from an ancient rune. He wanted to create the perfect portion for David because he feared this very situation. He was confident that this could be the miracle David needed to advance in his martial path."

"The drug was formulated using multiple herbs which both Xiao and his wife collected over the years within the various gates they raided. Xiao had predicted that the firstborn had got a huge portion of their aura energy and hence the second child would have been malnourished in terms of aura. The herbs are used to temper his body."

"Body has multiple crevices which are naturally formed during childbirth and develop as a human grows old. These crevices prove to be the containers which hold the so-called aura energy. Without a high-grade crevice, it would be impossible to reach a higher rank. David's crevices were way underdeveloped due to the malnourishment."

"Xiao collected multiple recipes which boasted about developing the quality of the crevices. The portion is created with a compound method and specially customized according to David's body conditions which were recorded by Xiao. It was one of his wishes to have David try it out before his awakening ceremony."

"But we need to confirm this action with the leader first. He is extremely sentimental when it comes to the Changs. If this proves to be detrimental to David, he is not going to let it off." Han knew about the possible consequences of his actions, but he owed Xiao for trying this formula out.

He nodded and signalled for the man to immerse David's body into the formula. The man slowly lifted David from the pool of blood and started to immerse him slowly into the reservoir. Unlike other cases of energy infusion through portions, the liquid was showing no reaction to David's body.

"Why is it like this? The theory was proven to have a perfect effect. Why is it not showing any reaction to this boy's physique?" Mr Han was trying to understand the root cause which led to this dysfunction. It was as if the concocted portion did not react at all. He referred to the notes prepared by him and Xiao.

It wasn't until a long time after that he managed to identify a certain area which had the probability to become the root cause behind this dysfunction. "An initiating catalyst might be required to kick start the reaction. Do you have any ideas in this regard?" The man beside Mr Han inspected the whole apparatus for a moment before replying.

"The apparatus is a fairly new set for me to give any definitive answers. But I do have some theories which might prove to be useful in this case. How about trying to use your own aura energy to activate the sequence." Mr Han proceeded with the theorized technique. The first trial by injecting aura into the portion itself which showed no reaction.

"Try it by injecting aura into David's body." The man said.

"David's body is not yet powerful enough to handle the burden of concentrated energy like mine. It might directly rupture his meridians."

"That is the potential risk which we have to take if we want to test out the portion prepared for him. It is up to you to decide. If you ask me, David himself has a say in this matter, and even the sister is unaware of this situation. The potential danger you are attracting towards yourself and Kaiser is too huge."

"I owe it to Xiao to give it a try. I have already tried mana experiments with David and he would reawaken to be an E-rank at most. Bottom tier hunters are just weeds which are uprooted instantly from the world of hunters."

The man chose to remain silent on this occasion. Mr Han was a very powerful individual and he didn't have the authority or the power to do anything for him as of now. Han chose to perform an aura injection into David's body. Although he was extremely careful about the dosage, David's body was not yet prepared for the dense energy.

His veins began to tear up, and skin charred out due to rejection of this foreign energy. Although Mr Han instantly stopped in his path, the damage was already done. The veins were damaged. His eyes turned worried with the thought that he might just have crippled David's future.

It was at this instant that the blood mixed up with the portion, and a reaction started. The previously unreactive liquid instantly began to pour into David's body, and the previous wounds healed. Mr Han's eyes glittered with expectations, but just at this moment, he could hear the door of his area forced open.

Multiple figures walked in, including Mia and Nathan. "What are you trying to, Mr Han. I don't remember allowing you to use experimental portions on David's body."

Before Mr Han could even respond, a huge blast of energy directly rushed towards him and the man. Although they both dodged, the impact was so dense that they were pushed back just by the vibrations. A horrendous aura spread through the room. It wasn't that strong but it was very aggressive. It was none other than Mia who had arrived.

Even Mr Han and the Huntress could feel the agressive was. Even though Mia wasn't some strong hunter as of now, she was till an SS-rank talent which meant that the energy she cultivated in her body was pure and powerful with an extreme speed of growth. Both of them were surprised to see how much she had grown in such a short duration after her awakening Even if she had prior training in meditation and energy control, this was unexpected.

"If anything happens to my brother because of your inappropriate actions, I promise you I will tear both you and Kaiser down to the ground." Blood-lust directly emerged from Mia Chang's body, which alerted Mr. Han and Huntress. Nathan on the other hand was looking at her with a casual expression. He simply waved his hand aand the feeling vanished into thin air while a powerfull energy began to bear done on Mia, forcing her onto her knees. Mr Han and the huntress had astonishment in their eyes. An S-rank hunter power was no joke, especially when the hunter was the current leader of the strongest guild in the country.

Mr Han's back was covered in sweat because his instinct screamed of the immense danger Mia was currently facing. He knew that Nathan wouldn't harm her, but this was too much. Nevertheless, he stood up with calm composure.

"Your father and I had inspected David's condition hen he was born. Due to the malnourishment of energy to his body, we have already predicted that his future had limited prospects. He was what you called a Failure."

"It was your father who didn't want to give up and began to search for ancient runes in expectation of a miracle. This formula is the creation of your father's experiment throughout his life. I owe it to him to give it a try, even if it cost me with my life." He bowed his head in apology.

Mia's expression turned even more intense after the statement was heard but she was unable to do anything.

"I don't care for the ideologies of someone who wasn't even with use during the most fragile portions of our life. If my brother suffers any kind of set-backs due to this experiment, I will stand true to my warning beforehand." She turned to Nathan and repeated.

"I hope Kaiser is powerful enough to take me on when I have reached that level." Mia understood that she was too weak to face any of the three hunters present here. The only thing she could do was paray for the well being of her brother and bid her time. Although the Huntress tried to interfere, Mia instantly raised her hand and turned towards the apparatus holding her brother. The medicine was slowly seeping into David's body, and getting absorbed.

It wasn't until an hour later that the medicine was fully integrated into his body, and all his injuries had been recovered. Mr Han signalled to the man to take David out of his apparatus. Once he was out and laid on a bed nearby, he was thoroughly inspected by him.

" How could this be?" Mr Han was surprised. Mia's depressed expression changed and she rushed towards David, pushing everyone away from him. Huntress, who was beside her, injected her consciousness in his body and inspected it, but she didn't find any anomaly.

"He seems to be perfectly fine to me. Nothing has changed within his body." Huntress reported. Mia sighed a breath of relief.

"That is my concern. The portion was created by a blend of herbs which were extremely precious and potent even for B-Rank hunters. Some exotic herbs were even A-grade, yet it brought about no changes in his body."

"I guess the experiment must have failed in that case," Mia replied in a sarcastic manner
