Lonely Breakup of an One-Sided Relationship

"An advice from an elder, don't let others or even yourself underestimate you." Said Mrs. Wang, as she sipped her dark coffee.

Jingyi had always heard this sentence over and over. It was like saying 'I'm okay' when you get asked 'how are you?'. These polite structured words entered into her ear and went out of the other. At this point, why bother asking? Why bother to respond?

Why… Is her heart throbbing?

"Yes..Yes.." She bursted out her invisible bubble, and gently slided the rings into her pocket.

"..." An awkward moment passed, it seemed that their conversation was done.

"Ah.. Eum.. I'll head back now.." She slowly got up her seat and grabbed her backpack. "Thank you, Mrs.Wang. I wish you a bright future.." She bowed and headed towards the door, fast as she could, without arousing any suspicions.

"Thank god there weren't too many customers watching this drama.."Jingyi murmured softly.

Looking at the back profile of the bunny slowly getting away, Mrs. Wang laughed. "Such a cute girl, getting used… Ah.. I feel guilty now.. I should have been apologizing to her, not the other way around. As… I've fallen for a man that was already in a relationship for six years…"

It was six thirty, her part-time job started at 20:30. -2 hours away. She couldn't go back home now, since a ride home would take about 40 minutes. But right now, it was rush hour, where traffic could occur. A 40 minutes ride would turn into a 70 minutes one. Instead, she walked towards the nearby park to pass time. The leaves fell on the ground, some cold breeze would come and blow part of her hair out.

Normally, she wouldn't dare go out and enjoy her limited time like this.

'Maybe I'll check out the contract M.Lavoie sent.. Urgh, but it takes wifi to load the message and download. I only have limited LTE, if I use more, I'll have to pay more..'

"Is that you, Jingyi?" That voice...Was extremely familiar and a heartbreaker.

Picking up her composure, she hugged her bag and ignored the calling. With a sprint start, she tried to run off. He swiftly lunged and fished out her hand with tremendous force.

"Please. let. go. of. me. sir." A cold smile spread onto her face masking her feelings. Her wrist felt like breaking, so was her inside.

"Jingyi? Is this a new thing now? We've been together for six years now, why are you treating me like this? Did I do something wrong?" That once sweet and melting voice was now her worst nightmare. Did he do something wrong? Something? More like : everything. Everything he did was wrong, even his existence should be banned.

"TIAN CHEN! Let go of me!" She screamed and kicked his lower leg. "Don't touch me! Continue and I'll file a sexual harassment against you!" Moving backwards, opening a big distance between them. This wasn't the right time for them to face yet. She still hasn't moved on and was still shocked.

"I'll seriously call the police!" She threatened, even though she really didn't have the courage to call them.

"Jingyi, why are you doing this?" He frowned, and tried to convince "Come on, you're normally not like this. Something's wrong. Just tell me, we'll work together, we are a team. We share our troubles, right?" No, they've never shared troubles with each other. It was more of him sharing his trouble, to her, making her solve the problem. They had separate lives, only tied together with the title 'fiancé'. If that was erased, then they could have just been a pitiful worker, working overtime to her terrible 'boss'. Or even a customer with his ATM machine.

'Strangers. Yes, I just want that title. To never see him again, to not know him. It's what's best. ' Suddenly, her mood changed. Her attitude changed. Even if she was still not over him, she knew she should never stay with him. It was no use hanging over a rotten rope.

"I lost my job, Tian Chen. I got fired. I don't know what to do now…" Well, the lie was half true.

"What? Wait, wait.. WHAT?! What do you mean? It must be a joke right?"

"It's not.. I don't understand! Why must I be blacklisted from all compagnies! It's unfair!"

"Y-You're blacklisted?" He shot his hands over her shoulders. "That means you can't work anymore?" He tightened his hold on her delicate bones. At that moment, Jingyi thought he looked like some sort of crazy, creepy, scary monster. If not for the same figure, she would have mistaken him for a devil.

Hanging on to the last bit of her courage, she said "En.. But it's okay! I can become a stay at home mom! I'll watch over our future children, and you'll be our bread winner!" Spouting that she'll bear his children, she felt uncomfortable and dirty. He wasn't worthy of her. He shouldn't even dream of touching her. "En! Our own loving family! You love me, don't you, Tian?"

"Y-You!!" Blinded by rage, his face reden up and grabbed her by her hair. Pulling it to make her face him, he slapped her hard and threw her on the ground.

The rocks and uneven ground swelled her back, but fortunately, she didn't hit her head thanks to her rapid movement of blocking. Now, her back was bruised, arms were scratched, and had a red mark on her cheeks.

Holding back her pain, she lifted herself up. "You can't do more MISTER Chen, this is a public space, if you don't run away, authorities shall come over. This is the last goodwill I'll give you, so never ever come back to me. Never show up before me, or you'll be handed to the police."

Yeah. She didn't regret dumping him, she only regretted not giving him back that punch.

"Tsk" He didn't say a word afterward. Chen Tian only ran, and ran, fleeing the scene as fast as he could. She looked at his figure, over time becoming smaller and abstract.

"It sure is lonely.." The park in its night was deserted, only carrying faint traces of the population. The street lamps lit up a portion of the paths, leaving the rest to darkness. The somber sky was clear, with no stars or moon in sight. The misty air from yesterday's rain enveloped the area. It was a peaceful yet lonely night.
