CHAPTER 12: MY SON’S FIRST GAME

MACY

Late Friday afternoon is my son's first game in his new school. I am excited to see him play and I am one proud mom. I will definitely watch him with my parents too.

I saw his love in basketball that is why I let him do what he loves. He keeps practicing on his own in our old place and watched games on tv.

I once saw him played and shoot the ball and I was impressed by him. I want to see him more in actually games.

Unfortunately, Shane never mentioned that we will go out tonight. If I get a text from him, I just tell him something that not related to my son.

I am still not yet ready to tell him about my son. I am not ready in all aspects. I know I want them to meet and know each other. But I still do not have the courage the right time to do that.

I already parked my car in the school campus. My parents called me that they were already there in the designated area for parents to watch their kids.

I locked my car and proceed to the gym. It never too long to locate their gym and I searched for my parents. They were just seated at the back of the players of the school. Thank God we got nice seats so that my son can see us.

My mother smiled as she saw me first and I greeted them. My phone vibrates suddenly and I looked at the screen Shane's name appears.

Shane: Hi, my love, what are you doing?

Macy: I'm outside, my love... with my parents. What about you?

I did not elaborate so that he might not come and watch the game.

Shane: Ah, okay. Here I am all alone missing you. 😔 Text me when you are home.

Macy: Okay, I will and wait for my text. I do not know what time I get home. Miss you too.

Shane: No worries, I will wait for you till you are home.

We ended texting; in a few minutes the games will be started. My excitement was focus on how my son show his ability inside the court. I just hope his father see him plays.

My son's team won tonight I was so proud of his first actual game. We went out to celebrate together with my parents.

We were waiting for our foods when I message Shane to know I am not home yet. I do not know if he is busy or sleeping but i looked at the time it is too early.

Macy: Hello Love! ☺

Shane: Home now, love? ☺

Macy: Nope, not yet! We were dining out waiting for our foods. What about you? What are you doing at this hour?

Shane: To be honest, I was thinking a lot.

'What! He was thinking a lot? About work ...or about us...? '

I shook my head thinking impossible about us. We were newly couple unless he changed his mind.

Macy: What were you thinking? Is there something that bothering you?

I was worried, not just about me thinking negatively about us. But about him as well. Our foods arrived as the waiter placed it in front of us when I received his reply.

Shane: Something, something, my love that's all. Do not worry too much I just miss you right now. ☺

I replied after I read his text.

Macy: Okay, text you when I get home. Our foods are here and do not think too much. ☺😘

Shane: ☺😘

I put my phone inside my purse and starts eating. The thought that Shane was thinking something he said was not to worry. I guess it was just nothing serious going on, right? I will call him when I get back home.

For now, I should focus in front of me and enjoy the meal. There is a celebration for my son's and I will not spoil his event. I can see how much his happy face shows. He must really overwhelm tonight's winning.

'I was gladly witness it and how I wish your father is here, my son.' I stared at him longer watching him eating.

"Mom, you are staring at me. You did not eat at all." He said, giggling.

"Oh, sorry, I was happy that you are happy, honey. Keep it up and achieve your dreams okay." I reminded him. He nodded with wide smile.

"You better start eating Macy, the food will be cold. Stop staring at your son all throughout the dinner." My mom scolded me but not in a loud voice just normal.

"Okay, Mom, I just cannot help it but being proud mommy. This is the first time. You should know that." I defend." I really have the most amazing son in the world.

"Yes, I know what you mean. I was like you too when you did great achievements. I am also proud of my only grandson and proud of you too as a mother." My mom said like a little teary eye.

"I love you both! Mom and Dad so much." I said, controlling my tears. "I won't become who I am right now if you two were not there for me, for us."

I know my mom was also like me when I was still younger. I may be spoiled brat but never been really a bad kid. I may be a shopaholic at that time when I was younger. Still, did my good grades at school. She was always be proud of my achievements.

My parents were not even mad when they found out I was pregnant. They were there supporting me up until now. Never been ashamed of what I become. Never neglected me when I needed them. Forgot to mention, my grandma too. They never blamed me for what I had at that young age. An early single young mother. They care for me even more. They love me and my son unconditionally. They truly love their grandson.

That is why I returned back because I want to live close to my parents. Family for me is forever. No matter what... family is important.
