They continued on without any trouble. No sudden appearance of poison mist, traps, or angry beasts to get in their way. After awhile, Collin lead her to a familiar area just outside of where she had lost consciousness before. Though they keep the mist safely out of their reach.
She called out as loud as her little lungs would allow her, trying to catch her rabbit's attention incase it was close by. Both her hands were brought up to her mouth in an attempt to amplify her voice.
"Stupid Rabbit, where are you?"
Nobody answered.
Collin looked around for it as well, searching behind bushes and around rocks. Suddenly his face lit up with a revolution. He hit his fist against his other palm and exclaimed his thoughts out loud. His round puppy dog eyes shining.
"I'm such a idiot! Just wait one second, I might have a solution!"
He held out his hand with all five figures pointing toward the sky. A white light escaped from his palm that lit up the trees around them, then just as fast, a large golden wolf with matching gold eyes appeared right infront of his palm. The wolf's back came up to Collins hip, showing off it's long muscular legs. With the wolf and mage pair standing so close to eachother, she had to hold in her laughter from how alike to eachother they looked.
She recalled a saying she had heard in the village, "Pets tend to look like their humans.' It must be true! They truly looked as if they were cut from the same golden colored cloth.
Then it hit her.
[Does that mean I look like my white rabbit? My hair color is mostly the same color.. No wonder I got bullied in a pass life! I looked like a scared bunny to everyone who saw me! How frustrating.]
She didn't know whether to laugh or cry at her self. Why couldn't she have a big scary spirit animal instead? Like a dragon! If she had a dragon then she doubted her past would of been so horrible. She could of had it blow some fire and melt anyone who insulted her. It would of been easy.
But what was she going to do with such a powerless rabbit? Maybe if she knew more magic she could turn people into carrots and let the stupid thing eat them. Too bad she had never heard of such a spell.
Collin patted the wolf on its fluffy head, and happily spoke to it like it was an old good friend he's known his whole life.
"Kai, do you think you can find her spirit animal for us? It should have the same scent as her. We're looking for a small white rabbit, so when you do find it you'll need to be mindful not to kill it."
The wolf tilted its head up to look his master directly in the eyes, and then it nodded knowingly. It then slowly walked it's way to Marella, it's long legs quickly closing the distance between them.
She wanted to take a step back when it suddenly started to come towards her, but she stood her ground despite her unease. It stuck it's cold nose into into the torso of her dress and began sniffing her wildly.
"Kai! I know you could of picked up her scent from over here, you don't need to get so close to her! Go on. Move it!"
He grabbed the wolf by its fluffy tail and gave it a harsh tug, making the wolf turn its golden eyes onto him with a side long glance, clearly annoyed. It huffed loudly in protest, then lazily slinked its way back towards Collin looking like it wanted to say something to its master.
"I don't care! She's a lady and you should show some respect!." Collin looked down at Kai with a reprimanding look. After a couple more seconds, Collin spoke again as if the wolf was actually having a conversation with him.
She allready knew that sprit beasts had a psychic connection to the mage they form a contract with. Others wouldn't beable to understand them, but their masters could. Just like how the rabbit could speak to her, it was only natural Kai could communicate with Collin. She just couldn't hear Kai for herself.
"She won't like either one of us if you keep up that attitude! Just go and find her rabbit allready." He brought his palm to his forehead and shook his head in annoyed defeat.
The wolf huffed again before slinging its massive body towards a group of trees. Just as its body was about to disappear into them, he gave one last look at Marella and gave her what she thought was a wink.
[Did that wolf just... wink at me?] one of her eyebrows twitched and a frown formed on her goddess like face. She couldn't help but feel like it took advantage of her. What a brave wolf.
After a couple minutes of Collin saying how sorry he was for his spirit animals behavior, and frantically trying to explain how they are nothing alike, the wolf came trotting out of the shadows with a small shaking rabbit in its jaws.
It looked extremely pale and frightened, but it was alive. It's eyes found Marella's instantly, like an unknown force pulled them together.
Its little voice shook in terror.
"Master.. I.. I found you!" Tears spilled from it's big black eyes, and its little nose wiggled from sobbing so hard.
Marella was almost speechless seeing her spirt animal behave in such an embarrassing manner.
