Chapter 16

~Chara's PoV~

I yelped when someone knocked on the door. Only one person can hurt me just by being present. Frisk. I thought as I scrambled away from the front door. Alex looks at me, confused. I shook my head, silently pleading with him with my eyes, begging him not to open the door. Alex got up and walked to the door.

He mouthed one word, "Hide." I nodded and ran to the bedroom, closing the door quickly. I winced again as I heard the front door open.

"Hello. Sorry to disturb you but I think my sister might be hiding here." Frisk said.

"It's fine and there is no one else here but me I'm afraid." Alex responded.

"Are you sure?" Frisk asked. I heard her move towards the bedroom door. "What's in here?" she asked. I bit my lip as I ignored the ever growing pain.

"My bedroom is what's in there, why?" Alex said with a slightly annoyed but worried tone. He sounded like he was worried that Frisk might find me. "The name is Alex, by the way. What's yours?" he asked.

"My name is Frisk." she answered. "If she was here she most likely would've killed him considering what she is, but, maybe she wouldn't kill him if she knew he could hide her from me." I heard Frisk mutter to herself. I heard Frisk casting a spell and I knew that she was looking for me. I could sense her hand sitting on the other side of the door. I looked around for a way but only found a window.

I scrambled towards the window and opened it, about to fling myself outside, but I wasn't fast enough. I felt Frisk's spell pass right through me, throwing me right into the wall farthest from the window. I yelped and tried to sit up but I found that I couldn't move.

"Shit. Looks like I'm going to have to try to fight her off for now." I whispered to myself, but before I could even brace myself for another spell from my angelic sister, I heard a gun's safety being turned off.

"Back away from the door or I will shoot." Alex said with a threatening tone. I could feel the power flowing from the onyx bullets inside the gun.

How? Where? What? Does he know what Frisk is? Does he know that onyx is an angel's weakness but a demon's strength as well as our source for the darkest demonic magic? I thought as my strength was quickly restored.

"What's a bullet gonna do?" Frisk asked, seems she couldn't sense her power draining into the onyx bullets stored inside the gun.

"These aren't your normal bullets. They're made of onyx and I don't want to have to use them against you." Alex responded. That's when I knew that he didn't know what Frisk was. I smiled and broke the freeze spell that Frisk cast on me. I walked over to the door and opened it.

"Hello, sis." I said, as Frisk looked at me. The look on her face proved that she didn't believe it was me until she saw my blood red eyes. "It's so nice of you to stop by, but I'm afraid you have to go, unless you're ready to fight me, that is." I said, smiling. Frisk tried to back away but Alex grabbed her arm. I giggled, "Onyx is quite dangerous for your kind to be around." I told her, gaining more and more power from the onyx bullets in Alex's gun.

"Then they must be dangerous for you as well, we are sisters after all." Frisk said.

"We are not sisters anymore. My kind gains power from onyx." I said, narrowing my eyes. I could barely control the power building up inside me so I started muttering one of the darkest demonic spells I knew. As soon as I finished the spell I aimed my left hand at Frisk and felt the power drain from my body. The blast of demonic power hit Frisk and she was propelled into the front door. The whites of my eyes were pitch black, making the blood red color of my irises stand out. "Leave now and I'll let you live for a little while longer." I snapped at her.

Frisk just stared at me, her eyes were full of fear. "Oh-k-kay." She stuttered and ran out the door, closing it behind her. I heard the safety of Alex's gun click back on.

"What was that about?" Alex asked as he put the gun with the onyx bullets away. I looked at Alex and then looked away when I saw what he was holding. He had another gun in his hand and it was aimed at me. I could feel my power draining rapidly, that's when I knew what kind of bullets were in the gun.

"It's just a normal fight between two sisters. One just happens to be an angel." I whispered, trying to keep my balance as I stood there. I looked at the gun Alex was holding and whimpered. "While I happen to be a demon who just wants the pain to go away for good." I said, still whimpering as I collapsed to my knees. I looked up at Alex, tears in my eyes. "This demon has no strength left in her to fight." I told him, holding back my tears, trying to ignore the pain filling my chest.

Alex sighed, "At least you told me the truth sooner rather than later." He lowered the gun and put it away, he held out his hand. I took it and he pulled me to my feet. "No more secrets okay?" he whispered in my ear and then pulled away. I nodded and fell into his arms, letting the tears roll down my face as he hugged me. "It's okay now, you're safe." he said softly.

"I'll never be safe, not with her still alive." I sobbed. Alex wiped my tears away and waited until I calmed down before he kissed me on the cheek.

"Go take a nap and regain your strength. I'll make you something to eat when you wake up." Alex said as he led me into the bedroom and helped me into the bed.

The sweet caress of sleep overtook me and I fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow. The world around me went dark.
