New Business: A Flashback (Earthy Lavender)

Hykife stood in the middle of Spelmans Freshman Day. His mother calld to inform him jus the day befor, that his lil sister will be there for the day wit her school.

They were visiting the school to get a taste of Freshman Day. He'd meet her and her class whit their chaperone Mrs. Clark. He remembers her from his high school days. She doubled as the ELA teacher nd cheerleading coach.

He road on da bus with the high school girls. Laughing as Marlie ,his baby sister, get mad because her friends are "drooling all over him". He ignored them all. He was simply here to chaperone his sister for his mother. " I'll owe you big time ." His mom promised over the phone.

He had lost his sister nd her 4 friends a hour ago. He knew they couldn't be far, but the freshman day activities where set right out side the freshman drooms. Freshman could join any extra activity they choose, not including a sorority. It's a timing precaution. They are able to observe the sorority of their chosen, til the can than pledge.

Right than he remembered how obsessed Marlie is with Deltas. He instantly head toward the sorority section of the activities. He passed the AKAs and Zatas. The Rhors were putting a show for the crowd they had gathered.

Then she seen the red nd white section of the activities. They had a crowd as well, who was cheering them on.

He cought sight of his sister wide eyed, basically doin the moves wit them. He couldn't stop the smile that form on his face. She looks like she belonged to them already.

She didnt even realized the crowd had circled her, and some people was recording. The Deltas were still proforming on their stage. He watch as one of the women not proforming had also been watch Marlie. In the middle of circle, following alone to their routine. On the stage it had end. Marlie too had fished. The crowd exploded around with cheers. She was in her own world the whole 5 minutes. He saw her blushing, but jus like at her step nd cheerleading show,she soaked it in.

Hykife watch the woman who watch his sister approach her. He too was walking toward Marlie,it was time for them to meet for lunch.

" You are to young to be a freshman.." She was sayn as he walk behind his sister.

" Yes ma'am. I'm a junior in high school. " Marlie explained. " I'm on a trip with my cheerleading team ."

The woman eyes darted to him ,letting Marlie kno someone was behind her. She looked back " Kyfiey did u see the crowd cheering for. me " She bounce by him excitedly.

" I saw the whole performance, little sister." He hi fived her.

" He I'm Hykife Hummins.This is Marlie." He shook the woman hand.

" Well I was jus tell Miss.Marlie that her freshman year, she has a guaranteed spot ...too obsvered us til she can than pledge her sophomore year ." The woman smile hard when an excitment Marlie jumps to hug her.

"Good job Marls..already open opportunities...and your're not even in college yet." He doubted hi five her.

"I'm Ashlie Williams. I'm a senior this year. " She explained. "Each year as senior I get to choose a freshman who will that same guaranteed spot asas u, aalnd I choose you. " She hand Marlie an red nd white card.

it read ' Seniors Choice '. " Hold on to this for me , I'll see you in about 2 years." She turn to the stage ,thrown her hands in the air to form the Deltas simple. Immediately

the ladies on the stage was hold up the simble as well...

She made a noise and the girl march off the stage, wit her a few pastes behind them.

"We better find the others,its time to me for luunch." He grabbed her my the hand,urging her away from the Deltas section.

"I kbo where they are. " She said taking the lead.

The walked for few minutes, when I stopped the other 3 girls at an cheerleading stand.

" Girls it time for lunch." Marlie called. " We have to meet Mrs.Clark at the freshman droom entrance. " Hykife yelled after her.

3 girl ran to them. As they walk towards the entrance to the droom ,Hykife close his eyes for jus second .

Earthy Lavender , he thought to himself. He opened his eyes jus then to look round . It was faint,but seem to be right his nose. " Big brother , are you ok." Marlie's question brought him back to crowded lawn of the freshman drooms. " Yeah, I'm ok...let's eat. " He pulled out his wallet. He offered to pay for lunch for his nd her friends. Mrs.Clark paid for her 4 girls nd there lunch.

" You girl keep your money and get yourselfs a keep sake to take back home." Mrs.Clark looked his to make sure he was ok it with this. He gave her a little nod. Good thinking his mom parpared him for such. He knew Marlie had her own money. So it wouldn't hurt to spend a few bucks for his sister and mom.

As they ate chatting the whole way. Marlie was telling everyone about the senior Delta who had chosen her,even tho she wasnt a freshman yet. He could hear them,but his mind was scent from earlier. Who could it have been ? He wondered. It was faint but it still lingered around him. He could still smell the earth Lavender combination, causing him to close his eyes.

"Marls,what's up with ur brother ." one if the girl asked.

She looked his way and frowned, then she shrugged her shoulders. "He's meditating." She said simply.

Hykife could hear them,but he was focused on the scent that now mocked him. Beckoning him to it. I got to fine the source of that scent. Everyone getting up from the table brought him from inside head.

"Ima take them on a tour of the drooms and the English language Arts corridor. " Mrs. Clark explained as he looked round . "You can continue your...meditation, and us at the back lounge of the that corridor. He watched walk inside.

Hykife thought about calling his dad,but he wanted to be sure. He didn't want to get ahead of himself. "I'll find the source first." He said out lond to himself, leaving the table. As his eyes scanned his sence of smell was on high alert,patiently waiting for the earthy lavender to him again. He'd walk the whole extra activity section ,with no earthy lavender anywhere. He slightly laughed at himself, for let his hope get to high.

Hykife decided to head to the English language Arts corridor. It stood massively to the left of everything else. It's also where the schools library is. He walked the whole in his head. Still smell the earthy Lavender scent and how it excited nd calmed him all at once.

Entering The ELA corridor, he continued to the far back.

The wall wre full of different awards and medals. In the middle where double doors. He assume it was the library. He passed different classes ,with professors give lectures and other doing various activities nd projects.

The had reached the the end of corridor a d was turning to walk the short hall to the lounge to meet or wait for the ladies. Bang. Some had ran right into his chest. He was so shocked by that ,his mind did instantly catch the scent.

Looking down he watch a young woman who wore a I'd scrubbing to pick up book. He could moved as to now that since that hunted him for the last hour, was strong. It took over his every since. He could hare the girl mumble a sorry as she finally got all her book up .He watched her disappear into one of the class room.

He didnt even kno he'd been hold his breath til he let out. He sank to the floor, tryn to catch his breath . His mind was a complete shock, yet so calm.

He managed to get his phone from his pocket.

He father pick up on the 1st ring. "Kife, my son , ..."

"Dad, I found her." He spock quickly so no pass by could hare. " I found her dad."

" Found who son." His asked.Hykife knew he knew exactly what he talking bou.

"Earthy Lavender..." he said smiling to himself.

"The girl I've been dreaming about since I was 18."

Hykife stood up and continued to head to lounge. The ladies had been waiting already.

" Ahh ,now off to the bus we go." Mrs.Claek announced.

As they walked to bus he tried to remember what his gazed mind saw about her. He sat in the same set a d as it pulled he remembered something about.

Her I'd was backwards.The back read ' Freshman 1 Sophomore 2' . He knew that meant she was taking sophomore classes too. He also remember how soft her bodies felt when they collided. I'll give it some time .Then he smile ,promising himself he would never give up on find her. And sence he didnt see much of her face. He use his ability to his advantage.
