I Dare You!

"I don't think that's a good idea. Commander Gu, aren't you too skilled for this? Having you sit in with me for the interviews would be a waste of your talent," Yu Yi said defensively as he regarded Gu Haoting.

Gu Haoting sat down on the bed and directed his cold gaze to Yu Yi. "It's fine, this gives me the opportunity to film your interview process and send it to your father to examine."

"Gu Haoting, don't go overboard. Even my father can't do anything about me, who do you think you are!" Yu Yi raged at him.

"I'll let you know who I am in a moment!" Gu Haoting stood up. He emitted an oppressive aura as he turned to Lieutenant Shang. "Take him to the Uninhabited Island; he'll be staying there for a month."

"How dare you! You're imprisoning me!" Yu Yi widened his eyes, glaring at Gu Haoting.

Gu Haoting glanced at Yu Yi from his peripheral vision. "Correct yourself—I'm merely exerting control over you."

He walked toward the door and left the room when Yanzi came running toward him. The moment she caught sight of Gu Haoting, her face flushed, and she stood aside.

Gu Haoting halted as he passed by her. He gazed intently at her, his eyes darkening slightly as he asked in a deep voice, "Did you come here by yourself?"

Yanzi's heart started racing at the realization that Gu Haoting was speaking to her. She responded respectfully, "Sir, I came here with my friend."

"Your friend?" Gu Haoting knitted his eyebrows.

"Yes," replied Yanzi simply. She did not wish to mention another girl's name and draw Gu Haoting's attention to someone else.

Gu Haoting's voice was as melodious as an angel's, and Yanzi was in so much bliss that she was on the verge of passing out.

Gu Haoting continued walking with an expressionless face. He was so nonchalant and noble that no one dared to look directly at him.

Yanzi pressed her finger against her lips as she gazed at Gu Haoting's back longingly. Lovestruck, she sighed, "He's so handsome. He's so much better-looking in real life than on television, and so stylish too."

Lieutenant Shang pressed the elevator button.

Gu Haoting glanced at the CCTV on the wall and commanded coldly, "Lieutenant Shang, go look through the surveillance tapes and confirm the identity of the girl who came here with her."

Lieutenant Shang nodded. "Sure."

The doors opened, and Gu Haoting entered the elevator smoothly.

When Yanzi returned to the room and found Huo Weiwu missing, she was puzzled. Then, her phone started ringing. It was a call from Huo Weiwu.

"Sister Huo, why aren't you here? Do you know who I ran into just now? Gu Haoting—the most eligible bachelor in the entire country. He's so handsome—how can anyone be so handsome?" Yanzi said excitedly.

"Yanzi, I have no time to explain anything to you. I have to leave this place immediately. Toss my keys out of the window—I'll get someone to come pick you up tomorrow," said Huo Weiwu urgently.

Yanzi walked over to the window curiously and saw Huo Weiwu standing downstairs. Her friend was completely drenched.

"Sister Huo, why are you down there!" Yanzi asked confusedly.

"Wrap the keys in a towel and toss them down to me," replied Huo Weiwu.

"Fine. Anyway, I don't know what happened, but the interviews were suddenly canceled. The organizer asked us to return to our rooms and await further notice," mumbled Yanzi in a disappointed tone as she wrapped the keys in a towel.

Huo Weiwu was not interested in the interviews at all. She wanted to leave this place as soon as possible. "Hurry up."

"Fine. Anyway, Gu Haoting actually spoke to me just now, so I guess this trip was not in vain," exclaimed Yanzi as she tossed the towel out of the window.

Huo Weiwu frowned heavily.

She had used Yanzi's identity card previously when she went into hiding and could not be certain if Gu Haoting managed to recognize Yanzi.

However, she thought about it and concluded that he wouldn't have. After all, most people looked nothing like the photos on their identity cards.

Huo Weiwu picked up the keys and started jogging toward the parking lot.

She had just opened the door when she was greeted with the sight of Gu Haoting standing there as though he had been waiting for her.

His gloomy eyes instantly darkened, and they were as deep as a bottomless well. It felt like the silence before the storm.

The weather was warm, but Huo Weiwu felt cool air rushing over her.
