Romantic Return

Edward woke up to the ringing of the System in his head.

[Gained Bloodline: Minor Poseidon]

"What is this?" Edward asked.

[The System can gain any bloodline from a world, other than God's bloodlines]

"I thought Michael was God."

[Michael is the Supreme God. He rules over all of the Gods, good and evil]

"So is Poseidon good or evil?"

[Poseidon is one of the Elemental Gods, who are all part of the Neutral Faction]

"So he's not going to make me evil or anything?"

[No, host. No he is not]

"What does the 'Minor' mean?"

[It means it is not to its a lower level of Poseidon's bloodline. Its unlikely that Poseidon would just give his full power to the mortal realm.]

"What does it do then?"

[Minor Poseidon's Bloodline - All stats drastically easier to increase. Water based attacks are 200% stronger. Your body has become closer to the water, your body moves with its fluidity and a shield of water constantly protects you.]

Satisfied, Edward apparated out of both the abandoned city and the time period.

Anglo-Saxon England, Norfolk, Norwich, 1068

Edward wandered around the countryside for a while, admiring the medieval English landscapes he had never forgotten.

Previously, he had asked the System where Cynewise was and found that she was somewhere in this area, so he continued to look around.

As he ambled through the town, he suddenly stopped dead in his tracks. Tending to a small farm was a middle-aged lady with brown hair; her glossy, green eyes looked out onto the afternoon sun longingly.

It was her.

Heart pounding, he rushed over to Cynewise with his arms flung open to embrace her.

However, when the woman saw him, she hastily grabbed her pitchfork and aimed it towards him, forcing Edward to stop.

"Who are you?" she questioned, eyeing him with suspicion.

At first, Edward was devastated that Cynewise didn't recognize him, but then he realised he was still in his true form (not as a kid). In all of the time he spent with Cynewise, he had modified his appearance.

"It's me, Edward."

Edward's face started to morph and change into the one he had used so many years ago.

"Edward...is that really you?" Cynewise began to choke on tears.

"It is, my dear."

They both embraced eachother, Edward forcing himself to hold back the tears brimming in his eyes.

"How was your trip? Where did you go?"

Cynewise sniffled.

A stupid smile on his face, Edward proceeded to sit with Cynewise in a little house, next to the farm, and explain everything that had happened.

Hours later, Cynewise felt like her head was going to explode.

"What in the Lord's name are you talking about? I mean, I believe you but...bloody hell!"

Edward grinned.

"And how have you been?"

"Much better without an idiot like you," Cynewise scoffed, turning her nose up as she tried to hide a smile.

"I moved away from Michael a couple of years ago, because I thought it was time to leave him. Plus, it would be difficult to explain me surviving to 250," Cynewise explained as she drank from a small, bronze goblet.

"How is he getting on? Michael, I mean?"

"He's a leader, a great one. Even that Norman bastard William was impressed."

The couple continued to drink and speak, eat and laugh, until darkness had swept over the entire town, and nothing could be heard but the howls of animals in the forest.

The couple got up out of their seats to face eachother.

"I've missed you Edward."

"I've missed you too."

Slowly leaning closer until their noses touched, they could feel eachother's hot breath. Edward placed his hand on her face, his thumb mapping the contours of her smooth, pale skin.

Blushing a bright red, Cynewise almost turned away, but Edward stopped her and stared into the sparkling emeralds that bejewelled her angelic countenance.

"I love you."

Such a simple line, but it made her heart skip like a schoolgirl's.

"I love you too."

His lips locked onto hers, as they both kissed like there was no tomorrow.

After a while of this, Edward shocked her by lifting her off of her feet, and bringing her into the bedroom next door.

"What are you doing, you beast?" she giggled as she was carried away.

Upon reaching the bedroom, Edward lay her down and both of them once again stared into eachother's eyes. For a moment, the world seemed to stop around them.

And then the real fun began.
