In the darkness played a memory only he knew. It was a childish memory. It was raining hard. Alex ran to the top of a hospital to argue.
'Why!?'
He screamed.
'Just Why!?'
The one he was arguing with before he was even ten was no other than God. Of course, God didn't reply back to Alex. Alex couldn't see him but believed he was there.
There he proposed a deal with the omnipotent entity.
'To think I would remember that in my last moments.'
Alex could only laugh at himself. He chuckled at his past, but perhaps it was his past that gave him strength. Alex was a kilometer away from his death. He was heading for an inclined mountain that had trees.
'I can't die now. I decided to become a hero. I'll be one even if I'm the worst one there is.'
Life gleamed in his eyes. Alex directed his body towards the few trees the mountain grew. Alex's body hit the branches as he fell. He tried grabbing the branches, but his speed wouldn't decrease.
His body kept falling.
--Shit.
His body hit the ground and kept rolling. Alex saw that at the end was a cliff that spelled certain death.
He tried clawing the ground to stop his body. He pushed his fingers in the dirt, but he kept rolling, the cliff was ending. Alex directed electricity to the hand he couldn't feel, his left.
He punched the ground to make a hole. His feets dangling in the air, but the rest of his body was still on the cliff.
--Hell yeah.
'Check his vital signs.'
'Check his pulse.'
'He is dehydrated.'
'His spinal cord is broken.'
'He has lost 4/5th of his blood.'
'He is undernourished.'
'He has 3rd-degree burns.'
'He has several compound and comminuted fractures.'
In a surgery room were several nurses and surgeons, top of what they do, having the most advanced medical technology in the world. They were relentlessly working on a living corpse.
'His pulse is dropping.'
'EEG waves are diminishing.'
'We're losing him!!'
An hour later, 4 people ran into the surgery room. They didn't care about anything else other than the person who was in the room.
His sight was terrifying. He had several pipes coming out of his mouth, nose and chest. He was still covered in blood and laid there motionlessly. But so were the doctors who could only bow.
'I'm sorry, we couldn't save him. His heart and brain stopped functioning 10 minutes ago.'
'Stop joking….. You are WS China! You claim to be able to resurrect a dead man!'
Nobody could keep their eyes dry. Jason grabbed the head doctor.
'Bring him back!'
'But sir, the injuries he sustained. He would be easier to treat him if he was cut in half. Nobody could survive those injuries.'
Jason shook the doctor. He pushed aside the doctors and met Alex himself.
'Alex. Don't you dare die!'
Asuna couldn't bear to see the torn body, but her eyes couldn't stare away from it. Same with Hikaru and Vanessa.
'Come back, Alex.'
The doctors had seen this many times before. But telling a dead body to come back to life won't make it so. *Or will it?*
The monitor beeped. The lines which were flat showed a bump before going flat again.
Do you know, there is still a chance that even after a person's heart or brain stops, it can work again. The chances of this happening are 1 in 10 million, but it exists.
'What?'
The doctors fixed their eyes on the screen. There it was, another beep. It became two bumps then three, four, and five.
'The patient is still alive, resuming surgery.'
The doctors all sprinted to work again. Behind the mask, Jason saw something relieving. He thought he saw a smile, a smile which probably said.
'Shut Up, I'm sleeping.'
'The results are in, master.

Watson respectfully bowed his head like a loyal servant. The master heard his report and was satisfied.
'He is ready.'
