Book 2 end

The fun day came to an end. They had booked a room in a hotel which was near the sea and spent the night there. When all the fun was over, they got ready to sleep.

The boys and girls slept in different rooms on Jason's demand. It was past midnight when Asuna knocked on the door. Hikaru was already asleep.

'Yes, Asuna?'

Alex opened the door. Asuna seemed worried.

'Um…Could you find Vanessa? She said she was going for a walk, but she hasn't returned yet.'

'Sure, Let's go, Jason.'

Alex called out to him.

'Vanessa is a WS agent. You should be worried about the people who would mess with her.'

Jason was comfortable in his bed. He didn't want to get up, especially not for her.

'That's not the point. Come on.'

Jason dreadfully got out. Alex would have pestered him all night if he didn't go.

'Ten minutes only.'

'Don't worry, Asuna. We'll find her.'

'Any idea where she might be? You know her the best.'

Alex and Jason kept wandering under the clear starry night.

'I do not know. I was never close to her.'

'Just what was your relationship with Vanessa?'

'A cruel and sad one.'

Though the sea was near. Alex chose the carnival instead of the beach. *The beach chapters will come later. Evil smirk** They will have to return tomorrow. The salty breeze of the sea could be felt from the hotel.

'I have an idea.'

Alex and Jason walked on the shoreline as the water caressed their feet, swallowing their footprints.

'Why are we here, Alex?'

'This is a beautiful sight. Perfect for easing someone's mind.'

Alex and Jason climbed a rocky cliff where waves broke apart. There Jason saw a glimpse of golden hair shining below. The strands fluttered in the wind.

The hair was attached to someone familiar. Someone who was sitting on a rock with her knees bent, staring at the sea.

'Vanessa is probably still sad about what happened that day. You should talk to her to lighten her troubles.'

Alex peeked from above the cliff on a girl who was wearing a nightgown.

'Me?'

Jason pointed to himself.

'Who else? You have known her the longest. It has to be you.'

Alex said the obvious, but it wasn't that obvious for Jason.

'I have never seen her in this mood. I do not know how to talk to her.'

Jason was freaking out. His heart started beating quickly, he wanted to go back. He was satisfied seeing Vanessa was safe.

'WS agents are psychological experts. Stop being a wuss and go.'

Alex was not going to let Jason back down. He was annoyed by Jason's response.

'I do not know how to talk to her. At least set up a natural situation.'

Jason was not going anywhere near Vanessa. Something bad always happens when he's with her. Alex was not buying that bullshit.

'Oh look, a banana.'

Alex took out a banana, peeling, and eating it at once. He threw the peel on Jason's face.

'So am I supposed to slip-'

Jason took the banana peel, but Alex was no longer in front of him.

'Get your ass over there.'

Alex kicked him in the butt, causing Jason to fall off the cliff.

'Watch out!'

Jason shouted to warn Vanessa.

'Jason?'

Vanessa saw Jason falling towards her. On instinct, she grabbed his hand, but the rock beneath her gave out, and they both ended up in the sea.

'What are you doing here, Jason?'

Vanessa shouted.

'I...uh….slipped on a banana.'

Jason couldn't think of anything else. He looked up, and Alex gave him a thumbs up for encouragement. Vanessa tried to see what Jason was seeing. Alex was no longer there, but she got the idea.

'That is one strange banana.'

Vanessa smiled.

'The most annoying one there is.'

Vanessa and Jason climbed on a smooth rock.

'This reminds me of when we were still taking swimming classes.'

Their distance was close. The moon shone brightly. They both were wet, the cold water was everywhere. Jason averted his gaze to avoid seeing her soaked body.

'You trying to drown me cannot be considered as swimming class.'

She laughed. But after that, there was complete silence. No sound other than the waves of the sea.

'Want to talk?'

Jason suggested the idea. It was the first time he did something this out of place. Even Vanessa was astonished.

'Sure.'

She happily replied.

'I'm sleepy.'

Alex yawned. He was back in the hotel room, and Hikaru was sound asleep in his bed. He was about to head to dreamland himself. A light flashed, and his phone rang.

--Who could be calling now?

He thought it was strange. He answered the phone.

'Hello.'

'It's terrible. Your Father has-.'
