I got into a fighting stance, and waited for Nero's command to head for the back of the monster we were facing. It seemed like it took twenty years for it to get ready, but Nero ran quickly to the monster and tried grabbing its attention.
"Hey, big ugly!" Nero yelled out, waving his arm after he punched it.
I let out a slight chuckle. Nobody else laughed though…tough crowd, I guess.
Things didn't go according to plan… instead of it getting its attention directed towards Nero, it instead paid close eye in my direction, almost as if it was looking at me.
With my palms getting sweaty, I yelled, "Are you sure this is going to work? This doesn't give me the biggest amount of confidence…!"
"Don't worry, Kurosaki." Zanya said, looking at me as if I was going to be the monster's next dinner.
"...How am I not supposed to worry?!" I said, flailing my arms in the direction of the monster, "Do you not see my man (or women) staring daggers into me?"
Zanya gave a shrug then walked away from me, into the spot she was set up with.
"I'm gonna kill Nero later…" I mumbled to myself as I yelled, "Nero, change of plans! I'll distract it."
Nero's face didn't seem surprised and got out of the reach of the monster. I ran up to it and punched it square in the leg. Nothing happened.
Everybody stared at my arm, still on the leg of this creature, hell, even the monster looked at me blankly.
I backed away from the monster, slowly, and got onto my hands and knees, took a deep breath, and said, "...I'm sorry, please forgive me…"
With the monster in a paralyzed state from the amount of stupidity I just admitted, Nero clawed the back of the monster. (That's it, I'm giving it a name. The name is Monsty.)
Monsty yelled with pain as Zanya climbed into its back, making a mushy noise.
Still on my hands and knees, I looked up at Monsty to see that they were slamming their hand down in my direction. In my confused state, all I could think about was all the mistakes I've made—wait…what have I done wrong?
Before I could think anything else, a black whip formed around my waist, and pulled me back with extreme force. I landed next to a guy, but I couldn't see his face clearly from my eyesight being wonky.
"Thank you." I said, still wondering why I couldn't remember anything bad I've done before becoming a vampire.
"No problem, Kurosaki. Nice distraction, though," said the person, the person I couldn't find out exactly what looked like.
"Mhm." I hummed, trying to get a good look at the person's face.
Before I could get a better view, Monsty growled in pain. I looked over to see Zanya climbing out from the neck.
Blood splattered everywhere, far and wide. Enough that it soaked my face in the dark red liquid. I licked it, but spit it out from the bitter taste.
The monster wasn't dead, though. It was still up and…healing?
I got up from my sitting state and ran up to Nero—who was also covered in blood—and said, "Okay, man, last plan didn't work. Got any better ideas?"
"Um…not in the top of my head." Nero said with a confused face, "That should've worked…"
"Well," I started, "it didn't. That's not our problem now. Our problem is how to kill it."
After a minute of thinking, Nero jumped in the air with confidence. "I got it!"
"Yes?" I said, waving my wrist around in a 'c'mon tell me' type of way.
"Okay, listen to me closely, Kurosaki," Nero started. "We team up."
"Yes, and…?"
"We team up, and cut off the ugly bastard's head."
I gave an annoyed look, "Wow, such smart strategic thinking." I said with a sarcastic tone.
"I know, right?" Nero said, clearly not understanding the meaning of sarcasm used in my statement.
"Fine. Let's do it…"
With Nero not being able to say anything, I put our heads against one another. He seemed to take the hint and asked, "You have a plan, Kurosaki?"
"Yeah, actually."
"Let's hear it then."
"Fine," I started, "first, we charge at Monsty, and before we make it close enough for Monsty to grab us, I grab you, and throw you as hard as I can up into the air. Lastly, you try to aim for Monsty's head, and tear at it until it comes off? 'Kay? Okay."
Before Nero could say anything to comeback my plan, I started charging at Monsty—no confidence in myself that we'd win—and so did Nero, and before getting close enough to Monsty I grabbed Nero from the legs, spun around, and threw him towards Monsty's head.
I watched Nero as he slammed down onto Monsty's head, ripping the neck apart (with some force, of course). Making it fall to the ground with ferocious winds blowing everywhere. Extermination: complete.
