Chapter 156: Repeated Rejections

Duan Yanran picked up the water glass, took a sip, and looked at her second uncle whom she hadn't seen for many years. She didn't respond to his words but instead asked, "Second Uncle, when did you come back?"

"I just got back today and came right over to see you," Duan Yanyun replied with a smile. How should he start this conversation?

But if he didn't speak up, he would have no way to explain to his father once he returned. It really was a dilemma; Yanran wasn't responding to him at all.

To speak frankly, Duan Yanyun really didn't want his niece to go back. Everyone knew the truth; it was all just for show, for outsiders to see. As long as she lived well here, it didn't matter.

But the key issue was that she had a mission, and she couldn't just not go back.

Oh well, he might as well speak up, now that he was here.
