Wen Yi was stunned for a few seconds before replying in a normal tone, "She called me."
There was a longer silence on the other end, and then his extremely slow speed of speech made her almost imagine him helplessly pinching the bridge of his nose, "What did she say to you?"
"She said she wanted to see you and asked me to contact you."
"You refused," he stated in a matter-of-fact tone.
Wen Yi chuckled lightly, "Do I have a reason not to refuse?"
"Did she say anything else?"
"She arrived in Paris and wanted to see you."
The man spoke evenly, but seemed to be suppressing some emotion, which she could feel across the phone line, "And then?"
Wen Yi retorted, "What else do you want to happen? Or do you think I should have taken her to see you?"
"I didn't say that."
Wen Yi did not engage further.
Mo Shichen asked again, "Did she say anything else?"
