Deep Gaze

Su Xiqin's voice was soft like a feather, and that irritated Mo Xigu. He stared at her pale face as if she was a glass doll hanging off a cliff by the string in his hand, and if he were to go of the string, she would immediately fall and shatter.

Mo Xigu suddenly hesitated for the first time in five years, but then he recalled what she said about revenge, and his hesitation was soon covered by anger. "Xixue wasn't a boring game like you; I only married you because I wanted to sleep with you."

His words were like a dagger that went through her ears and pierced through her heart. Her fists hanging by her sides clenched so tightly that there was blood around her nails.

So that's the reason. She remembered that he had once wanted to sleep with her, but she didn't agree. So that was his goal; do men in general just want to conquer what they can't have?

"So for the time before we were married, you were just pretending to care about me so that I'd fall in love with you?"

Her eyes looked unfocused as she stared at him, but it looked more like she wasn't looking at him, but rather through him. What was she looking at?

Mo Xigu looked back at her with a cold stare, and his mocking grin seemed even more intense.

She didn't need his answer anymore; she already got the answer from his expression.

Su Xiqin suddenly realized that all the commitment she had put into their relationship was just a joke, and it was all just a big lie. Well done, Mo Xigu!

"But too bad you lost at the last moment." She laughed, even though her eyes didn't smile, looking a bit cold like her usual self.

"If I knew you were this kind of a woman, I wouldn't have married you." Mo Xigu clenched his teeth.

Having seen the icy coldness in his eyes, her eyes brightened up like the sun after rain in June as she said lightly, "Great, let's get a divorce!"

Mo Xigu was stunned and hesitated having seen her affirmative expression.

"Gu, you're married? She's your…" The woman beside Mo Xigu quickly approached him having heard this breaking news, and she grabbed onto his arms even though his hands were still clenching Su Xiqin's shoulders.

Mo Xigu stared at Su Xiqin and didn't reply to the woman beside him. He said fiercely, "You want to get a divorce? It's not going to be this easy."

He swung his arms to get away from Su Xiqin after saying that, and he turned around as he walked towards his car, got in, and drove off.

Su Xiqin teared up watching the car drive off, and her tears reflected the light under the sun.

The man standing beside the Bentley glanced at Su Xiqin before he sat back into his car and waited for the traffic police to arrive.

- Half an hour later, at the Police Station -

"Miss, you ran a red light," the police sitting across from her said.

"Oh," she answered emotionlessly.

"You're mostly at fault for this accident."

"Uhm."

The police officer looked up and felt that it was strange how Su Xiqin didn't defend herself at all; it was really the first time he encountered someone as straightforward as her.

After a few questions, he asked Su Xiqin to sign some paperwork and wait in the lobby for the final decision.

She had just sat down in the busy lobby when someone called. It was Zhang Jing's number, and she pressed answer without any hesitation.

"Su, when are you going to be here? They seem to be getting impatient."

Su Xiqin covered her forehead with one hand and said, "Explain to the Zhuosheng Corporation that I had a minor car accident, and I will be there in 30 minutes."

Su Xiqin hung up the phone as she lifted her head, and she saw the owner of the Bentley that she had collided into. He had walked out of the VIP room with a young man wearing gold-framed glasses behind him. She knew that young man behind him; he was the top lawyer in S City, Shao Zhengyang. The owner of the Bentley must be someone unusual to have Shao Zhengyang work for him. Just when she looked at his direction, that man's deep gaze also met her eyes.
