After leaving the Civil Affairs Bureau, Charlotte noticed they were not headed to the Rising Sun Corporation.
"We aren't going to the company?" Charlotte asked.
"You want to go to work on our wedding day?" Gordon asked her.
"We're pretty late. It's already past lunchtime. I know you have a meeting with the group investors at three o'clock." Charlotte reminded him.
"I'm pretty sure your boss won't hold it against you that you take today off." Gordon said.
Charlotte laughed. "It's just that I've heard you never take days off and that you're never late. I didn't want to inconvenience you." She said.
"That was before." Gordon said.
"Before what?" Asked Charlotte.
"Before I had a wife." He said.
"You're like a completely different person today. Did you know that?" Charlotte asked.
"A man with a family has to balance his work and personal life well. Or he will lose his family." Gordon said solemnly.
"Those are wise words." Charlotte agreed.
"My dad taught me that principle." Gordon admitted.
"You and your father seem to have a similar temperament." Charlotte noted.

They arrived at a private beach that evening. Gordon took her arm and led her toward the ocean where a table set for two had been set up.
"When did you plan this?" Charlotte cried.
"I sent some messages on the way here. We'll have a ceremony later, but our wedding day should be special." Gordon told her.
Charlotte could only stare in amazement. It was like his EQ suddenly had grown. Where were all the romantic statements coming from?
He pulled out her chair for her and sat down across from her. Immediately a waiter came forward with their dinner.
After they finished, Gordon pulled something from his pocket. He seemed nervous all of a sudden.
"Charlotte, I realize we didn't go about this the way many couples do. I didn't propose before we were married and we had no engagement; but my love for you is sincere. Will you accept this as a symbol of my love for you?" Gordon approached her while speaking and took her hand. He slid a ring on her finger.
Charlotte looked down at it and her breath caught.
"You—this is the ring I've admired. You remembered?" Charlotte asked as she stroked the heart shaped ruby on the infinity symbol ring.
"Eternal love. I'm fairly sure I started to lose my heart to you when you told me about the ring I designed and what it meant to you." Gordon confessed
Charlotte threw her arms around him and kissed him.
"I'll love you forever. I promise you." Charlotte whispered in his ear.

After dinner they curled up together on a large blanket in the sand. They held each other as they listened to ocean and gazed at the stars.
"Gordon?" Charlotte asked softly.
"Mmmm?" He lazily replied.
"Thank you for today. For everything. This has been the best day of my life." Charlotte praised him.
He caressed her cheek and pulled her closer. He wanted to tell her he'd place the world at her feet if she wanted it. But old habits died hard. He wasn't a man of many words and felt clumsy with his new feelings and his ability to express words of romance.
He felt her soft little hands moved seductively across his chest.
"I wonder what having sex on the beach feels like?" Charlotte breathed.
He didn't need to be asked twice!
