Starter Event (Part 3)

The Blood Orc's ear-piercing screech caused every player at the raid to tremble in fear. All but one. The man who had ordered us and given us advice on how to form up, was standing on his legs, with unwavering will and courage.

It was at that moment I remembered who the man was. He was BiggFloppa, the first beta tester to ever reach an advanced class, the Archmage class, and the first to complete a solo raid. BiggFloppa stood as a paragon of hope to all the players at the raid event.

Once the status effect of the Blood Orc's roar had worn off, all of us had gotten up. Filled with hope and courage, we got back into formation, and resumed our attack on the Blood Orc. The Blood Orc swinged his axe around his body, a fiery aura surrounding him. Everyone launched a full on attack, arrows, fireballs, and projectiles dotted the sky, with the glow of the clerics healing the front-liners shining through the pink evening sky.

The Blood Orc roared in pain as he fell down onto his knees. The assassin team had once again sliced through his heel muscle, restraining the Blood Orc ability to move. Everyone launched their full scale attack, with the melee users hacking and slashing through it's meaty, red, flesh, and tough, sinew-y muscle.

Every player, casual and hardcore was going all out on their attacks. Everyone yelling out attack names and using abilities, it was a flurry of power, teamwork, and the unified will of us all to beat the raid boss. The Blood Orc's health drained quickly, the red HP bar smoothly going down, as we all attacked the Blood Orc with all our might.

15k HP…

14k HP…

11K HP…

So close! Right before we were able to defeat the boss, the Blood Orc's heel wound healed up, and he got back onto his feet, but this was the final round, and everyone was ready to get the event over with.

Then, BiggFloppa piped up from atop his player throne, "Attention, everyone! I have a plan to get the Blood Orcs health down to zero! All we need to do is have the assassins go for the neck while the Swordsmen distract the Blood Orc! We can easily take out the rest of his health if we stick to that plan!"

Everyone heard his plan, and got ready. The swordsman groups waved and flailed around, while also hitting the Blood Orc from time to time to keep his aggro on them. I was with the assassin team, and while the swordsmen groups were distracting the Blood Orc, all of the assassins went for one final blow. In unison, we all activated "Slash!"

With over 200 different assassins using slash on the Blood Orc, it's health depleted down to zero, and we had finally won the event. The Blood Orc slowly dissipated away, it's final and only words being "I will return…". Everyone sighed a sigh of relief and wiped their brows, as if they had been there fighting for hours.

At the center of where the Blood Orc died, lie a single, golden chest, with a tag above it that read "Come here to pick up your loot drops." Everyone swarmed to the chest and opened it.

In Live Universe, Raid loot was decided not by RNG, but by total damage. At certain damage thresholds, you are guaranteed a certain drop. Some drops are also race and class specific, which helps with eliminating useless junk not related to your class. That's not to say that there was no RNG at all, as you could still get drops based on your drop rate, however these weren't class or race specific, and were in general not as good as total damage drops.

When I had finally gotten to opening the chest, a bunch of notifications appeared to the right of me.

[TITLE GET!] YOU RECEIVED THE TITLE "Blood Orc Slaughterer"

[WEAPON GET!] YOU RECEIVED ITEM "Legendary Blood-Strewn Chain Daggers"

[ARMOR GET!] YOU RECEIVED ITEM "War-Torn Blood Orc Cloak"

[RESOURCE GET!] YOU RECEIVED ITEM "Blood Orc Blood x12"

[RESOURCE GET!] YOU RECEIVED ITEM "Giant Orc Bones x15"

Looking over my haul, I had definitely done a good sum of damage in order to get so much loot. I even got an amazing sounding title and powerful looking weapons! Despite the struggle, the event was definitely worth it. I sat on the pink grass, and sighed. I was exhausted from that fight. Who knew that video game fights could exhaust you?

After resting for a few minutes, I walked around to look for my friends, but they were nowhere to be seen. While looking around though, some things caught my eye. Within the large crowds of players, few were surrounded by a horde of players, and at the center of those hordes… were people who were blood red, with markings all over their body.
