I was not expecting the hole to be so deep since I was only expecting to fall for a few seconds, not over half a minute.
Falling with nothing to grab onto is a weird feeling, but it was quite fun once you get past the part where you might die if you aren't careful.
{You're approaching the bottom now. Get ready.}
I looked down for the first time, noting that the hole's bottom was glowing.
And it was as purple as I expected, which is too purple in my opinion.
I was approaching the bottom fast, and if I didn't stop now, I was going to be deader than dead.
I thought up a simple plan, hoping that it would work.
'Okay, first pull out the hook, then mount the slime. I'll improvise the rest.'
{That style of planning is going to get you killed one day.}
'But today's not that day.'
I followed the steps I had laid out and used my hook to grab onto the walls just as soon as they started to fold out into a wide cave system.
I was swung into the cave with an excessive amount of momentum, so I began working on slowing down while riding my slime.
It didn't work as expected since I looked like a blue rock skipping across a purple, rocky ocean.
The experience is also not pleasant in the slightest because I was being taken along for the ride.
While I cannot say that the experience was hellish (Since that place sucked worse than this experience), I can safely say that the trip was a hell of a ride (Not in a good way).
{This was a bad idea.}
'But it hasn't failed me yet.'
And then a slime appeared.
It was a dark purple slime that was extremely clouded, looking like it had some sort of marbled pattern on its membrane.
I had no time to look at what it was, since I was currently being hurled at it at an excessive speed.
And then I hit it.
And then the ride got worse.
All the momentum shifted upwards, and I was suddenly flung at the ceiling.
And that was when the hook showed just how useful it really is.
I threw it at the ground, and it seemed to remove all of the upward momentum that we just had when it hit.
And the ride was finally over.
{That was an interesting thing to watch.}
'Yeah? Well it was definitely less fun when you are the one riding the rollercoaster that that was.'
{I thought you had fun.}
'Oh I did, but not during the ride.'
I decided to focus on where I was currently, and it was an interesting sight, to say the least.
I was in an extremely expansive cave, and it was lit up by glowing purple spikes jutting out from any direction.
'This is quite the sight to be honest.'
{Wait till you see the other parts of the world.}
'I probably won't have to.'
And that was where that conversation ended, since I was trying to focus on where I am supposed to go.
Since I felt that I should go nowhere, I went in a random direction.
It only took me a few minutes to find one of the altars the Gods were talking about.
And boy was it creepy.
It was made out of the same material as the stone it sits on, but it had teeth jutting out of the top that seemed to have grown out of it.
'That is really creepy looking.'
{It's a demon altar, I expect nothing less.}
'Man it even sounds creepy.'
I decided to ignore the creepy altar, and continue on my merry way.
And that's where I found what I needed (After a few battles with the local fauna).
It was a glowing purple sphere, seemingly pulsating with some sort of energy.
{This is a shadow orb, a seal meant to hold the cursed worm inside of. There are three separate orbs that you need to break to unleash the blighted creature.}
I decided that I should deal with this as soon as possible, especially since I was working on a limited timer.
I punched the sphere. And it shattered into pieces.
I was not expecting the aftereffects of breaking it.
My blood went cold from an unexpected fear that had appeared in my mind.
{I forgot to mention that there are some deterrents to releasing it. You hit the first deterring feeling. The next one shouldn't be as bad as this one.}
'I really doubt that, but I saw that the orb dropped something, so I'll check that out before I get to the next orb.'
I went up to the remains of the orb and reached into the pile, only to pull out a small sphere.
As soon as I held the sphere up to the air to get a better look, it expanded into 3 feet in diameter and started glowing.
And it was glowing purple.
'What is it with this place and purple?'
{It has to keep a theme.}
'Godsdamnit.'
{We enjoy this actually.}
I just sighed in defeat and started to continue my journey while accompanied by a large glowing orb.
I continued my journey, hoping that there were going to be no more roadblocks on my trip.
I was lucky that there were none.
I continued onto the second orb, hoping to have something good come out of the 'lootsphere'.
I finally found it (With even more fights in between my trip from the first to the second), and I was not going to waste time breaking it, so I punched it immediately.
The sphere dropped a musket.
'A musket? Really?'
{We like our guns.}
'Gods this is like if you mixed America mixed with fantasy and reverted time back to the middle ages.'
{You know you like it.}
'I don't know how to feel about it.'
{Also the second deterrent should hit right... About... Now.}
And then All I heard was anguished screams.
The screaming lasted a few minutes, which is way too long for a deterrent in my opinion.
Once it ended, I could only say one thing:
"What the F*** was THAT?!"
I said it out loud due to my shock and confusion from the experience I just had.
{The second deterrent. I guess it was a bit worse than the first...}
"A bit is an understatement."
{We know. You should look at the musket instead of focus on the last few minutes, it might bring your spirits up a bit.}
And so I looked at it.
[Musket
31 damage
Average knockback
Critical chance: 11%
Very slow use time
Velocity: 9]
The stats made me slightly happier at the find, but I was still feeling uncomfortable after the screams.
I decided to hurry up and get this all over with, so I went for the third sphere.
I spent about ten minutes searching before I found it, and when I did, I immediately broke it.
That was when all hell broke loose.
