Meteoric Development

'I deal with one problem, and another one immediately appears after it. This world does not want me to get any rest does it?'

{Well... You technically got your rest a couple of weeks back.}

'I guess that counts as rest... But that was also weeks ago. I can't even go a few days without fighting a "boss enemy", and it's wearing down my sanity.'

{It hasn't worn down anything, and you know it. You never had any sanity to lose in the first place, anyway.}

'Why does everyone but me think I'm insane?!'

{Because that is your usual personality. You're solitary, erratic, spontaneous, and you also talk to yourself.}

'That last one is only during certain situations, and you know it.'

{Of course we do. We live in your head, after all.}

'If you're going to stay in here for any longer, you're going to have to pay rent.'

{We do, it's just that we don't show it.}

'Can you tell me what you are using for your rent?'

{We ain't tellin you nothin.}

'Where did you get an entirely different accent from?'

{We don't know, we just forgot to type in the g's.}

'Wait you use text to speech to talk to me?'

As soon as I asked that, I heard a different voice in my head, and it seemed to overlap itself several times with an echoing effect.

{Well, yeah, we do.}

I was stunned at the voice, especially how confusing the voice was.

'Huh. So you sound like several voices overlapping each other? Weird.'

{You have no right to call us weird.}

'I am not weird! I am completely... Normal. I can't even lie to myself, I am definitely weird.'

{We're weird together.}

'I'm not interested in a relationship at the moment.'

{We are weird friends then.}

'Since when have we been friends?'

{When we first met.}

'I assume I have no opinion in this matter?'

{You never will, friend.}

I just sighed.

'You're never going to let me relax, are you?'

{Don't worry, this whole ordeal will only take a few years... I think.}

'A few years maximum?'

{It's a minimum amount of time.}

'F***.'

{Don't worry, you won't be bored for the somewhat near future.}

'That isn't helping me.'

{Well, I tried. Let's go to the meteorite then. It might cheer you up.}

'I have no idea how that will help, but a new material is always good to have.

{Indeed.}

And so I went back to my home to inform the rest about what had occurred so that they will know where I had disappeared to.

And then I realized something:

'I never told them about where I went yesterday, did I?'

{You did not. You literally woke up, talked with us, and set off to kill the worm.}

'Well, I am a spontaneous person.'

{A VERY spontaneous person.}

'Still not a big problem.'

{Indeed it is not.}

'You say indeed a lot.'

{Indeed.}

'You're taunting me, aren't you?'

{Indeed.}

Alright, I'm grounding you. Go sit in the corner.'

{But we didn't do anything!}

'Do you want me to mute you too?'

The Gods were silent for a moment

{...No.}

'Good... Uh... Child?'

{We are currently one entity, so you are correct in calling us a child, even if we are not.}

'Alright, let's end this skit here.'

{Indeed, let us end it here.}

I just sighed.

{Onwards to the meteor!}

And so I left the house in the direction of the fallen celestial object.

-1 hour later-

"This is going to be a long trip, isn't it?"

I started thinking aloud since I was bored of walking for the past hour. Nothing was able to understand me, so I thought it was fine to think aloud.

{Only slightly farther than the corruption, so you are about halfway there.}

I sighed.

"Great."

And so I kept walking.

-1 hour and 20 minutes later-

I finally reached my destination, and it was an expected, yet also unexpected scene.

The area was torn to shreds, and the worst was a large crater in the ground.

I carefully approached the crater, careful not to fall in.

I looked inside and saw an amazing sight.

The meteor had apparently exploded after landing, leaving a crater with massive chunks of meteorite lodged in the sides.

It was reminiscent of the inside of a geode, and it was something that was enjoyable to look at.

{We do not recommend going down there.}

"Why not. It seems perfectly safe down there. The only thing down there is sharp... pieces... of a burning hot celestial body. Okay, not safe at all. Got it."

{We would recommend that you obtain an obsidian skull before collecting these ores.}

"And where would I get that?"

{By walking back home.}

"You just live to spite me, don't you?"

{Not us. We are only creators. The universe just hates you on principle.}

"Why?"

{We don't know. Ask the universe.}

'Screw it, I'm bored.'

"Hey universe, why won't you let me rest?"

A new voice popped up in my head after I asked the question.

~Because hardship is how the character develops.~

"What the f***?"

{How come you talk to him and ignore me whenever I try to talk to you?}

The Gods seemed genuinely scandalized by the past few seconds.

~Because you are annoying.~

"They have you there."

The Gods didn't respond.

I turned my focus to the 'Universe'.

"By the way, you said that hardships are what develop character. Am I supposed to be struggling through these events?"

The universe was silent, and I heard a snicker from the corner of my mind.

{You totally just f***** up.}

"what did I do?"

~Given me an excuse to up the difficulty.~

"Oh."

~Well, I believe that I have to go. Don't want to keep you too distracted, especially since you are going to be quite busy. If you don't understand, turn around, I left you a hint.~

'This is not going to be a good hint, is it?'

I turned around and looked around for the hint I was supposedly left.

I looked down and saw a piece of paper, with a single line that I read aloud:

"Did you know that meteors are sentient and that they are extremely hostile?"

After I finished reading the note, I noticed a shadow in front of me.

I looked up to where I assumed the source to be and saw a floating chunk of meteorite.

'The universe hates me, doesn't it?'

And the Universe responded.

~We like to make people work for their achievements.~

'This is going to be some tough work then.'

~And you'll finish it. Have fun!~

{You are not going to enjoy when the rest get here.}

"The rest!?"

{Yup, the entire rock is sentient.}

~Hard work pays off.~

'Why is every powerful being so annoying...'

Both beings responded in unison.

~{Hey, I/we take offense to that!}~

As soon as they noticed the response of the other, they began arguing so much that I droned them out.

'Well, I guess I have work to do.'

And so I approached the meteor chunk.
