Chapter 41

I woke up that same day, Prince Sepo was not in the hut.

" Did they really say that?"

" Yes" Lonki answered him.

" They where told to fight us, delay our going home because the Letuyako was going to attack Kele palace while they held us here and Kill the Kele oracle, getting eight hundred elephant tasks in rewards by the Letuyako Princess."

" Zae is going to go crazy when she hears this." he smiled.

" Speaking of Princess Zae, what happened out their today."

" I don't know, but what am sure about is that, she suffers any pain I might have on my behalf...I wonder why she didn't tell me." He told Lonki sadly.

" She might have her reason, don't ask her, let her tell you."

" Am taking her home, together with two hundred soldiers, take care of everything here. Let's meet back at the palace."

" I have to check if everything is ok back at the palace."

" Don't worry, we would have already received news if something was to happen back home."

" I feel used, this war was stupid to begin with, senseless killing, the Letuyako will pay for each life here with theirs."

" Prince Sepo, did we Win?" I asked holding my chest.

The sun was setting and with that came a breeze. The air was filled with an odour, that seemed new. I covered my nose but the smell was still pungent.

" You are burning the bodies?"

" Mmmmm, Let's go back inside." he said holding me by the shoulder.

You have to rest, you worked really hard.

" We all did"

" Let's go back home, Lonki and the others will take care of things here."

" Yes, let's go home."

The smell of the fallen worriors' corpses burning had made my head whirl. It was too much to bear that I began feeling nauseous... I tried to keep from vomiting, but the more I tried to keep everything wanting to come out inside, the more they all pushed up my throat.

The smell in the air made me retch and Prince Sepo stopped in his tracks.

" Are you ok?"

I shook my head. Running to a secluded area behind the hut, I started vomiting.

He went inside the hut and got a pitcher and cup. He scooped a cupful of water and gave me, but it didn't help me as I vomited the water as well.

Lonki had seen me attempting to vomit my intestines out. He came with a handful of ashes from the fire the worriors where using to cook and put the ashes in the cup with water.

" Drink this Princess Zae."

" What's that, you gave her?"

"Just ash water, am not going to poison her....It was a miracle worker for my wife when she was pregnant."

Prince Sepo's eyes lit up..

" Do you think you are ...?"

" No, it's just the smell that has filled this air, the smell of death." I said going inside.

The concoction Lonki had made for me, gave me instant relief.

Prince Sepo was disappointed, he didn't want to show it but it was drawn on his face like a painting. Me on the other side wasn't sure but I hoped Lonki was wrong.

A child now would ruin, not just me but my urge that was running rampant in me to fight the Letuyako and average my family.

*******

Prince Sepo said his farewells to the worriors, mounted his horse and gave me a hand, snapping his reins and kicked his horse to a gallop. With his his body guards by his side.

We rode on his horse the whole way only stopped to rest, eat and drink  some water. Prince Sepo was worried about the Letuyako attacking Kele palace in his absence, so he was in a hurry to get back to Kele palace.

News of our victory had travelled ahead of us, so people gathered in all the villages we passed, stood along the roads to welcome us and offer words of praises.

We were in Kele  palace after traveling for a whole day and a half.

If people were this happy, then maybe everything was ok." he told me.

I had wanted to leave the camp as soon as I could.

The horror of my actions hitting me with a stunning force as I packed my things preparing to go back home.

I was a healer not a worrior! killing people was not what I do.I still had a pain in my chest from the spear that had struck Prince Sepo, but since I had woken up, there was no wound.

When we dismounted, I winced from the pain in my chest. He looked at me worriedly,

" Should I carry you?"

" No, that won't be necessary."

" Am not going to let you make me a topic of gossip in the palace." I told him.

Prince Sepo glanced at me  and I shrugged.

" I just want to take a long bath and rest, cleanse my self."

"You had done only what you were meant to do. It was the gods' will to make you a formidable worrior...You should have seen yourself on that battlefield."

" Mmmmm, if you say so."

Let's bath and meet the King and Queen later.

Namakau came to welcome me, When I saw her, I knew I was home.

" Welcome my Prince."

" Thank you."

" My lady, you are welcome."

Prince Sepo left us and walked ahead of us. A short time later, he had disappeared into the corridor that separated our quarters.

"Is Princess Mokomena still alive?" I asked expecting some bad news.

"Princess Mokomena disappeared, two days after you left, no one knows how she left the palace, but she is no where in the palace."

" Good, then I can just follow her and Kill her in her own kingdom." I smirked.

" We have heard how you fought like a true worrior. "

" You have?"

" Yes, the whole Kingdom knows, It's what everyone is talking about."

" It will be good if the Letuyako heard too."

" Am sure they have."

" Is my water ready..."

" My lady..."

Both Namakau and I turned to where the voice came from.

A woman with a child on her back was coming towards us.
