Chapter 3 - Awakening the Memories

The first thing that Daniel feels upon waking up is the severe headache that feels like he fell off of the top floor of a 13 storied building. Not that he knows what it feels like, after all he had never fallen off one. Daniel then opens his eyes and checks his surroundings. He comes face to face with a tastefully decorated room. At least for a room in an ancient Chinese society. He momentarily wonders where he is but then remembered dying and meeting God. As he remembers it he is assaulted with a migraine. Slowly the migraine lessens and as it lessens he starts to remember a different life, a short one. When the migraine is completely gone he knows everything about the body that he currently lives in.

Turns out that his new name in this life is Da Ni El, people call him Daniel. Also turns out that his wish for a loving family will also not be fulfilled in this lifetime. And this time it was not because of a bad family. In fact they were very loving. No this time it was because he is orphaned before the ripe old age of 2. It seems like just the week prior when Daniel and his family were traveling back from trip towards north, they were ambushed by a gang of bandits. The ambush happened close to the city so the city guards were able to send reinforcements fast but they were not fast enough to save his parents, both of whom died while trying to delay the bandits hoping for the city guard to send help. They succeeded but at the cost of their life. The city guard sent help but they were only able to save me.

I was then sent to the orphanage after the authorities confirmed that there was no one else to take care of me. That brings us to here where I woke up after 1 week and directly assimilated my new life memories. I was hoping that this time would be different but now that this happened it seems like I would not be able to experience a parents love in this life too. Normally I would not be this calm after processing something like that but for some reason right now all I could feel was a sort of calm that only comes with experience.

Just as that thought came to his mind, Daniel was stricken with another bout of migraine. This time it was much stronger and brought with itself many new things along with knowledge of spirit pagoda, blacksmithing, and medicine. Along with this knowledge came the experience 3 other people. This at least answered the question of how he was able to maintain that calm state of mind. After all 2 of the 3 people were the kind that were able to maintain that calm state of mind almost constantly. And the third also learned to keep that state of mind even if only in battles.

After the migraine receded he was happy that his wish worked like he hoped. Back then while thinking for his wishes he had thought even if he wished for power, he lacked the type of demeanor required to make proper use of that power and survive. So he had wished for that very experience. Now that he has the experience of Kiritsugu and Tatsuya he was better able to handle that power and survive longer. Even if the merger has affected him to be even more cold and ruthless person than he was before, the pros outweigh the cons.

Then he checks if his second wish has worked as intended or not. He looks within his minds and tries to look for the knowledge of spirit pagoda and instantly is assaulted by various processes like how to make a spirit soul, artificial spirit bones, etc. He was also given the knowledge of various cultivation techniques. Among them there were various for body, mind, and spirit. Now he checks for the blacksmiths and instantly he knows about various blacksmithing tips and techniques like hundred and even thousand refinements. He repeats the same for medicine and he knows various tidbits of medicine and even learns spiritual healing.

The reason he wished for this as his second wish was because with this he has covered anything he could ever want for. Cultivation techniques from the spirit pagoda, blacksmithing, and medicine cover everything he could want. But just because he has knowledge of these techniques does not mean that he can perform them. He needs to practice them before he could use them. Now he can't check his third wish but he reasoned that it would also be working as intended.

"Little Daniel, come on its time to wake up." A voice come from outside the door.

"Coming sister Qin" Daniel answers her while moving up from the bed and going towards the door. After all it was time for breakfast. He moves towards the washroom outside and finally looks a his appearance. He looks like a small kid with night like black hair and ice like blue eyes. The aura he emanates screams cold and ruthless despite his young age. He shows all signs of being a looker when he ages. The good thing about the incident was that despite it only happening only 1 week ago, the old Daniel had turned cold to everybody else. This way no one will feel like anything is wrong with the way he was acting and those that do would assume it is because of the death of his parents.
