Prologue

"You were just a game to me. My revenge is now accomplished. " She let out silent tears remembering his words. The way he laughed after spitting those words at her, she couldn't forget his face at that moment. It was like the man she'd known all this time was put away in one corner and the cover to the album named 'Avyan Oberoi' in her heart had been replaced by his vicious, cruel face.

"With this kiss, my debt to you of the slap you gave me, is now complete." The way he mocked her made her want to scream out loud. Instead she just muffled her cries in her pillow, not wanting to wake up her family downstairs.

"When did you become so cruel, Avyan? Even when you bullied me, you weren't that cruel." She remembered all the moments she'd spent with the man who'd managed to make a unique place for himself in her heart.

"Was I so wrong in reading you? How could I mistake that care, that affection for me behind your brown orbs?" She didn't know what to believe. On one side, there was her heart and on the other side was his words.

"How do I believe that our kiss, yesterday, was just a part of your game? My Avyan was never that heartless." A dilemma, that's what her present state was.

Nitya lied there on her bed in the darkness with open eyes. Her mascara was smudged and her face had dried tear marks from all the crying she had done since the eventful evening. Though her face was swollen and her body tired, her eyes refused to shut close, only wanting to reminisce the memories of the boy who played her like a game.

The night was not peaceful for both Avyan and Nitya. One was in hurt, angry yet confused while the other was experiencing major bouts of guilt along with pain. Letting go of the tiny girl, that too in such a cruel manner had broken him before he could break her.

"It's okay. She'll be okay. Buddy will take good care of her. He's the best for her. He'll give her everything what I wouldn't ever be able to." Although he was trying to satisfy his heart about his actions, yet a few traitorous tears slipped past his eyes. With bloodshot red eyes and heaving breath, he gripped the steering wheel tightly in his palms, alone in his car in the empty parking of the hospital.

"Just like my life, lonely!" He thought and a sad smile covered his face.
