I, along with my new-found comrade, walked towards the garden. We passed the pond. The naiads tried to flirt with us, but Will shoved them away. They left and began flirting with some satyrs.
We sat on a bench, far away from the pond and near the glistening river.
"Adrian, the Oracle of Delphi has a connection with Apollo because he is also the god of prophecy." he paused for a moment. "And that's why I can sense her, too."
"Her? You mean the Oracle of Delphi is a girl?" I asked, quite surprised.
"Yes and no. See... Adrian, the Oracle of Delphi is actually an ancient sprit that has the power to speak the future. But the spirit needs a medium to speak the prophecies. Every time it chooses someone with some special powers and enters it's body. That person becomes the medium through which we can receive prophecies. That person, now is a girl of fourteen years. Her name is Michelle...she...she disappeared mystically last December. We have been searching her since then...but failed everytime." his voice was indeed filled with emotions. He wasn't showing it but his dejected voice conveyed that whoever this girl was, Will was worried sick for her. She was special for him.
"Three days ago Apollo showed up, so I thought he brought Michelle with him but he didn't even know until now that she disappeared." Will looked completely devastated. Will seemed a year younger than me, but at that time, it felt as if he had aged several years suddenly.
"But why? Apollo is the god of prophecy, right? Then, why can't he tell where she is?" I asked, several questions flooded my mind.
As soon as I said that, Will clenched his fist in rage.
"I asked grandfather the same question but do you know what he said, he said, "Grandson, it doesn't work this way, I am the god of prophecies, but that doesn't mean that I track my Oracle's each and every move." He said it so normally as if he was not even a bit worried about Michelle." Will said and his hate towards Apollo was clearly visible.
"She devoted her whole life just to be the Oracle of Apollo. And I feel embarrassed that I am related to such a mindless god." he said scornfully. And I realized how much alike our thoughts were related to Apollo.
"Yeah, you're right. He is a little piggish." I said and we both laughed. And suddenly the coldness of the atmosphere converted into a joyful one.
When we were done with our talk, it was night already. I didn't even notice when time passed by. I was feeling really hungry. And my stomach didn't hesitate to show it. It growled loudly and Will smiled.
"Come, let's have dinner." he said and we headed to the dining area.
When we arrived there, everyone was settling down. We sat at the last. We were the only ones sitting in that dining table. Everyone was glancing back at us from time to time.
"Why are they staring at us?" I asked nervously.
"Not us. YOU." he said. "They are quite surprised, honestly I am too, that you are a half-blood. You know, after that oath that the gods took, seeing a Half-blood has become quite rare. Even rarer than seeing a god." he said all this while picking up which food should he eat today. The food had arrived to our table just like it had last time... magically flying.
After some time he settled for an enchilada and ate it half-heartedly. I knew that even now, he was thinking about Michelle. Will was so concerned about her, that it was now affecting his appetite.
I decided to have sushi and a drink that I had never tasted before but decided to give it a try.
I was about to start eating, when I noticed someone walking towards our table. Isabella came and sat beside me and we received several glances from everyone around us.
I was staring dumbly at her.
"What? Can't I even have dinner here?" she asked me and I shook my head.
"No. No, that's not what I mean. Of course you can. It's just... ah, never mind." I shut my mouth because I knew, the more I will say the more awkward this situation will get.
I tried to focus on my dinner. The sushi was outstanding and that drink was magically delicious.
"What is this thing?" I asked.
"Oh, it's called Salines. This drink is prepared by Hecate herself. That's why it tastes so good." Isabella said.
Through out this time, the glances that we were getting from others, didn't stop. And to be honest, I didn't care anymore.
I was certain of one thing, I was with my friends and anything else didn't matter.
I ate my dinner and went to my cabin after a peaceful day. I can't remember when my day had gone so peacefully, without any problems. For me it seemed like years because when I was in school, everyday I would encounter some or the other problem. I didn't understand why but nothing around me seemed to go fine.
But that was in the past. Now, I have the chance to do something different with my new-found identity.
With this thought, I drifted off to sleep.
