On my request, Stheno agreed to give extra training to me. We reached the training area and Stheno started enquiring some weapons.
"Hmm... this is not it." she said, still looking at the weapons questioningly.
"No. This is not right. Nothing here is worthy of being the weapon of the son of Zeus." she shouted. Just then I remembered my sword.
"Umm... Will this do?" I showed her the sword of Peleus and she raised her eyebrows. She snatched the sword from my hand and stared disbelievingly at it.
"Where.... where did you get it?" she stammeringly asked as if she had seen a ghost.
"Umm... I had no intention of finding it, but Still I found it." I said. She seemed a bit shaken.
"Do you know about that sword? It's past?" she asked and I heard concern in her voice. I felt spellbound to answer.
"Yes, all I know is that this sword is cursed. But what exactly is the curse, I don't know. And I don't think it matters now because whatever I do, wherever I throw this, it always comes back to me, shamelessly." I said with a defeated sigh.
God knows how many times I had tried to get rid of it since the time I came to know it's truth, but this magical sword always managed to outsmart me.
"Adrian, this sword is, without any doubt, a powerful weapon made by Hephaestus himself, but it's still dangerous to use. Though I don't know about it's curse, but I can tell you from my experience that whatever it is, it's going to be a problem in the future." she said and I couldn't believe that she really is so sweet and caring.
There was no sign of her faking it, but still how can... it be? 'Forget it, Adrian. Miracles happen everyday and it's living example is you yourself'. My angelic side scolded me and I couldn't deny.
"Well, since I can't get rid of it, why don't I use it?" I asked and Stheno looked like she wanted to argue but finally she just nodded.
"Maybe you are right." she still looked doubtful. "So you choose swordfighting as your main skill then." she said and I nodded.
What else could I do. I stink at archery, I am hopeless with spears and God knows how much I suck at other fighting skills. So, clearly swordfighting was my last hope. But there was one question that was bothering me from the very beginning.
"Why can't we use guns?" I asked and Stheno, Isabella, Will, all three of them looked at me like I was a kitten, asking them why I meow.
"Ah! how many times will I have never answer this question?" Stheno said as she pinched my right cheek. "Because, darling, they are not reliable. Do you know that if you will confront a monster with a gun in your hands, the gun will start to malfunction or it won't work at all." she said smilingly, she seemed quite amused with my innocent question.
"The weapons that we use are not made of any normal metal. They are forged from Cosmic Steel, a mental that can harm monsters, demigods, sendates and even gods but not humans. That's the specialty of this awesome metal." she said.
"Isabella, tell the class I'm busy so, I won't be able to come. It's their free time." She ordered like a military commander.
"Will, you must go and insure that small kids are...." Stheno started to give various tasks to Will and Isabella. Just then, I came to know how hard Stheno works everyday and she had left all that just to teach me. I felt like a culprit. She was so nice and I had been questioning her... even before I got to know what kind of a person she was. I mentally slapped myself.
When she was done with giving instructions, Isabella and Will nodded and left at once to comply with their master's orders.
When they reached out of sight, Stheno unsheathed her sword.
"Okay half-blood, let's start with the basics here."
And like that, my swordfighting classes began.
