Chapter 4: If I were a video game character

A calming tune started to play, electronic notes filling his senses with a feeling of breathing in fresh air after rain. A dim light peered over the horizon and made the dewdrops on the leaves glisten. The birds chirped and grasshoppers hummed out of joy.

Iru opened his eyes and looked around. This world was so real looking, how were graphics like this possible, especially on a cheap game? Wait a minute... Iru looked down at his hands- they were HIS hands! Same scars and black fingernail polish, the 'ʅ(◞‿◟)ʃ' he wrote out of boredom on the back of his hand the other day.

How did the game have his exact hands? Looking down further he had on the same outfit too, a white button up shirt with a blue stegosaurus print and gray khakis he had cut off just above the knee to give a frayed look to them. Now- his new question was if the game had his face TOO.

Looking around for any reflective surfaces to fully determine whether or not he was playing himself as a character.

Noticing a puddle out of the corner of his eye he walked towards it and leaned over to see his reflection, it was HIS face. Looking closer into his green eyes and black hair, it was really him.

"Well shit." Iru said aloud and rubbed his temples, "What do I do now?"

Right as he said that a mouse-like creature scurried out in front of him. It sat on the other side of the puddle and looked up at his face, turning it's head to the side in curiosity. As if to respond, Iru also turned his head.

"Don't do that. It's weird." Said an irritated, deep voice from the mouse's direction.

"Huh?! Who's there? Who said that!" Iru looked up, he was startled by the voice he had heard, it was almost as if it had come from the mouse.

"Look down asshole, make eye contact with me when I'm talking." The voice said again.

"W-wait... are you the mouse talking?" Iru stuttered.

"Wow, we have a genius on our hands." The mouse leisurely trotted around the puddle and up onto Iru's croc. "Now pick me up, will you?"

"Uh... sure thing." He kneeled and extended his hand to his croc, the mouse jumped on and climbed his arm to perch on his shoulder.

"Now, you're probably wondering how I can talk and why you're in a video game." The mouse stated calmly from upon Iru's shoulder.

"Yeah I am. Have I gone crazy? Am I in a coma?" Iru looked at the mouse and blinked a couple of times as if he'd open his eyes to find it all gone.

"You have not gone crazy, nor are you in a coma." The mouse stated. "You are merely somebody who has been warped inside a cursed video game."

"Ok... how exactly?" Iru's expression was a mix of emotions.

"Magic, dumbass. What other way can you think off?" The mouse said sarcastically.

"I don't know! Aliens?!" Iru was dumbfounded and tired from all this strange activity, so tired that he found his vision getting foggy and he was hit with a sense of dizziness. Then, out of nowhere, he collapsed.
