"Wait for me outside, I still have something to do." Lin Chao's gaze was intense but his voice was not laced with any emotion. "Once I sense that your scent is out of my detection range, I'll kill you immediately!"
Fan Xiangyu smiled bitterly. This human was far too brilliant and was totally opposite from the other human beings she had met before this; he had a strength that was immeasurable and intelligence that was debilitating. What irked her the most was that Lin Chao's understanding of zombies seemed to vaguely exceed hers, a Zombie Whisperer!
"Okay." She could only agree helplessly.
Lin Chao left the storeroom first, vanishing before Fan Xiangyu's sight in a distortion of light.
Lin Chao sped along, quickly arriving at a lavish room on the first floor of the hotel. He easily unlocked the chip sensor of the room since there was no one guarding. Just as he opened the door, a sense of danger hit him as he sidestepped subconsciously.
Swoosh!
A small sharp blade brushed past his shoulder.
Lin Chao evaded the incoming small knife and grabbed it. When his gaze searched for the owner, he was met with a familiar pair of eyes. Both of them were surprised.
Toying around with the flying knife and pushing it into his pocket, Lin Chao chuckled softly. "I was just wondering why my flying knife was missing. I see that you've stolen one of them."
The person behind the door was none other than Lin Shiyu. When she heard the door unlocking, she hid behind it to prepare for an ambush, not expecting the person who opened it to be Lin Chao. She was surprised, yet thankful for her luck, as she dove into Lin Chao's embrace. It was only after a few seconds that she pulled away as if electrocuted and looked at Lin Chao in shock, "Lil Chao, you – why are you here? Are you also…"
Dotingly making a scrape at Lin Shiyu's nose, Lin Chao answered, "I'm here to take you home. Why? Don't you want to go back?"
"You aren't captured?" Lin Shiyu was slightly distressed when her reaction finally caught up with her thoughts. "Leave quickly. There are many of them and they all have guns. You won't be able to fight them alone. I'll protect you for now. Come and save me when you get yourself weapons such as firearms or the like."
Lin Chao rubbed the faint palm mark on her cheek and said softly, "Don't worry. No one can hurt you when I'm here." His tone was gentle but there was a sense of determination.
Turning away, Lin Shiyu flushed lightly. "Hands off me. Do you really have a way to escape? Are you sure?"
She looked up seriously at Lin Chao.
Lin Chao's eyes met hers before he nodded.
Inhaling a deep breath, Lin Shiyu then said, "Alright, let's go then. I believe that you won't do anything stupid!"
Lin Chao held her dainty hand as they went toward the second floor stepping on the bright red carpet of the long hallway. The second floor was decorated in a similar fashion. They came to a stop in front of a room situated in the center-right of the floor.
Lin Shiyu looked up at Lin Chao in confusion but she did not speak, afraid that she would alarm people in the neighboring rooms. Then, a mystical scene unfolded before her eyes. Her younger brother whom she had cared for since her youth, was probing the door lock for only a moment as the sensor had shifted from a red indication dot to green.
The door opened inaudibly.
She finally understood how Lin Chao opened the door to her room.
Since when did this brother of hers learn sneaky tricks like this? Lin Shiyu suddenly realized that she did not really understand her brother whom she seemingly was the closest to.
Together they entered the room and closed the door.
He smelled the human scent when he was outside. It was at the deepest part of the room surrounded by a whiff of sweat that was on the bedsheet and blankets. The person was apparently resting on the bed. That was why he opened the door calmly without the worry of being seen by the person inside and exposing himself from the latter's surprised cry.
Although being exposed would not pose any threat to him, he did not want to engage an unnecessary massacre.
Passing the entryway into the room, the sight of a brawny man nestled in the large soft bed and slightly shaking, as if it was very cold, greeted them.
Lin Chao caught a sniff of the scent he loathed instantly and told Lin Shiyu softly, "Close your eyes, don't look."
Lin Shiyu was long stunned that there was someone in the bed. She did not know what Lin Chao wanted to do, the urge to question effusive when he told her, but she could only close her eyes obediently knowing that speaking now would only alert unwanted attention.
Letting go of Lin Shiyu's hand, Lin Chao came to the bed holding the steel bar. Once he flipped the fluffy blanket open, he saw the brawny man hunched inside naked; one hand was holding onto his genitals while another hand held an erotic magazine. He was currently engaged in an obscene act.
The middle-aged man was obviously stunned when the blanket was pulled away. Shocked when he saw a foreign young man standing beside his bed holding onto a bloodstained steel bar, he instinctively pulled the blanket to cover himself and asked angrily, "Who are you? Bastard, who allowed you inside… Huh, how did you come in?"
Lin Chao stared at him coldly. He initially wanted to torture him but seeing his salacious look, all interest was lost as he swung his steel bar swiftly.
"No – don't, no…" The brawny man cried in terror. His gun was placed on the bedside table but there was no time for him to retrieve it; he could only beg for his life.
Bam!
The steel bar landed heartlessly, a splatter of blood sprayed on the sheets in consequence.
Lin Chao wiped the steel bar dry on the sheets and turned around to hold Lin Shiyu's hand again. "Don't turn back. Let's go home."
Lin Shiyu curiously looked up at Lin Chao's side face, the emotionless outline giving her an inexplicable sense of security, and asked, "Did you kill that man just now?"
"Mm."
"Why?"
"He's the one who carried you back. The wound on your face, he's the one too right?"
"How did you know that I was carried back by him?"
"I saw the surveillance tape."
Lin Shiyu did not question further; instead, she clutched Lin Chao's hand tighter like she would never let it go again.
.
Having exited the hotel, both of them had met a couple of people along their way but they had walked past them in a turn of a blind eye. This astonished Lin Shiyu, almost making her suspect that Lin Chao had already become the leader of these people.
Fan Xiangyu sat atop a run-down car farther away from the hotel in a clean black formal dress. Swinging her fair legs, she exuded a pure charm like an angel, as if an adorable girl who was seated on a swing. Three harrowing-looking zombies stood in front of her obediently, like followers, and lightly swayed their bodies following the unknown song she was humming; akin to sinister ghosts from hell listening to the god's teaching.
Disbelief filled Lin Shiyu when she saw this harmony and she covered her mouth, afraid that she would exclaim aloud.
She had never seen such docile zombies!
Holding her small hand, Lin Chao came to Fan Xianyu. "Let's go," he said.
Fan Xianngyu stopped humming, the zombies stopped moving along to her tune. They stood frozen, empty white eyes looking at Lin Chao and Lin Shiyu.
"This is?" Fan Xiangyu looked at the girl curiously.
"My elder sister, your master," Lin Chao's answer was curt.
