The Godhead’s Eyes

Puddles of bloodstain tainted the run-down observatory as newspapers and fruit peels drifted and rolled about in the strong wind. Gigantic terrorizing shadows crawled unhurriedly past the dried crimson liquid.

This was the Long Hai Zoo.

In a building about ten miles away from the zoo, a five-member team was gathered there. The leader was a well-built young man with short hair and a bright red jacket, as well as a scabbing wound on his face; he was on the binoculars for some time before turning around and told the other four people, "That sly little thing – it's gone to the lion enclosure of the zoo."

"What do we do now?" A brawny man among the four frowned and said, "That's a zoo, supposedly the most dangerous place in the city now. Even if we have three Evolveds in our team, we may not even enter safely. There'll be sacrifices for sure."

There was a slight change of expression in the two young men. They were twins, basically identical except one was accustomed to wearing a smile and looking more amicable while another was much colder in character. They were the only ones in the team who were not Evolveds.

"Bingbing, you're sure you saw it right?" The red jacket young man looked at the only female of the team, Zhao Bingbing, seriously.

She had long wavy brown hair and wore tightfitting sports attire with two pistols strapped around her thighs. Carrying a laptop with her and a pair of lilac glasses perched on her nose, she exuded a sense of intellectual beauty as her eyes glowed navy. "No mistake. My left eye clearly saw that the little thing had a type of green energy within it that contains a potent strength of life. If we get it, it can heal all sorts of injuries as long as the heart and brain are intact. There's a slight chance that we can evolve again from it!"

The young man in the red jacket lightly inhaled and clenched his fist; looking at the other three people in a cutting gaze, he said, "I'm willing to take the risk. What about you guys?"

"Me too." The brawny man shouldered a machine gun with several rounds of ammunition draped around him, cracking a grin he said, "Pretty Bing has never perceived something wrongly. With her assistance and this amount of ammo, I don't believe that we cannot fend off these monsters!"

The twin brothers who were left exchanged a glance and nodded with resolve, "No problem!"

"Alright. I'll study the distribution of the monsters." The red jacket young man turned back to his binoculars with satisfaction and observed the zoo.

The brawny man smiled from ear to ear. "If we evolve again, we're considered second-level Evolved's yeah? We'll be assigned high ranks directly by the time we enter the army and make something out of ourselves. Especially with Pretty Bing's powerful ability. Without you, the four of us would've died a long time ago."

"I can only supply some information, it's mainly up to you guys still." Zhao Bingbing nudged her glasses calmly as she furiously keyed in data to the computer. Soon, a 3D model that was a duplicate of the Long Hai Zoo appeared on the screen.

"This zoo is a 3A tourist spot and is one hundred and two hectares, containing over three hundred and eighty species of rare and wild animals, exceeding five thousand and four hundred in number. There's a pride of lions in the lion area, about eighty over of them. Assuming that half of them are out hunting, there are about forty more left. Our goal is to avoid these forty mutated lions and find that thing!"

"Or…" Zhao Bingbing prodded her glasses again and said indifferently, "Kill all of them. I believe that mutated lions will still retain some of their partial behavior and are still territorial. The other mutated monsters won't come near them easily."

"Whatever you say. We'll follow what you say, Pretty Bing," the brawny man said with a grin.

Zhao Bingbing pointed at the screen with her delicate finger, "We'll enter here from here at the later entrance, then go through the sewer from here to the lion area. It's safer this way. There are too many animals inside. If there are dogs and snakes, we'll be exposed easily as their sense of smell and thermal vision can capture us without a hitch."

The rest of the group nodded.

The red jacket young man promptly memorized the placement of the monsters and relayed the arrangement to Zhao Bingbing. Red dots immediately popped up on her laptop's 3D model; each symbolizing a monster while the circle around the dot represented a certain range it could move in.

The handful of men then strategized in detail according to the plan.

Nonetheless, the so-called 'strategizing' was actually them listening to Zhao Bingbing's arrangement. The lady was young and without significant combat ability but no one dared underestimate her.

The game plan was decided in an instant and the group departed from the building.

Bang, bang…

Before the zombies they met along their way could make an advance by catching whiffs of their scent, the brawny man had wiped them out with the machine gun he shouldered.

"Don't waste the bullets," Zhao Bingbing softly chastised.

The brawny man stroking his head smiled in embarrassment.

Zhao Bingbing took out the pistol on her waist while the color of her eyes gradually turned light blue from black. From her vision, the zombies were almost transparent and sectioned out, as she scanned the data shown in her brain.

Bang!

A bullet catapulted from the pistol and shot a zombie's head making friction with the air. The attack targeted their weakness, so the zombie was instantly killed by the headshot.

A bullet for a zombie!

Fan Bingbing's marksmanship was unusually remarkable but the rest of the team was not surprised, merely admiring with a little impressiveness. They had witnessed her skill prior to this but what impressed them the most was that the woman's past occupation was not a militant but a hacker.

Such remarkable marksmanship came entirely from her evolved eyes!

They called it the Godhead's Eyes.

Weaknesses and information of the enemies would be transformed as data under those eyes. Once they had access to the feedback, they could easily tackle their enemies!

"Make less use of your ability. Save a bit of your cell power." the red jacket young man said in a low voice.

A blue glisten blinked in Zhao Bingbing's eyes as she calmly answered, "Based on the recovery rate of my cells, the depletion will be fully healed before we enter the zoo."

Bang! Bang!

After shooting another two zombies accurately, the team had arrived at the zoo.

The pandemic had happened at night when the zoo was already closed and the workers were clearing the trash inside. Therefore, the team did not see a large amount of tourist remains, only catching occasional sights of browned blood puddles and skeletons.

Under Zhao Bingbing's instructions, the four men got into the zoo through the car observation path and avoided the red dotted areas marked on the computer map, all in accordance with their plan they successfully slipped into the zoo's underground sewer.

The sloshing noise of water was distinct in the dark underground pipe.

The team looked experienced as the smiling brother of the twin switched on a torchlight he retrieved from the backpack to illuminate the tunnel ahead of them.

Making some distance, the red jacket young man halted his steps suddenly and tilted his head forward to listen better, warning the rest, "What sound is that?"

Alarmed, the team gripped their firearms tighter.

Bluish glow shone from Zhao Bingbing's eyes as she observed their surroundings. All of a sudden, she stared at the drain in the center of the sewer. "Quick, stay away from the drain!"
