An Evolution Tree
'Level S…' Lin Chao's mouth twitched once again but he gritted his teeth and went for it!
The pain index of Level A was about sixty while the pain index for giving birth was nine point two to nine point four. The pain that Lin Chao had endured just now was basically six times more than giving birth!
What would the pain index of Level S be?
"Begin!"
Upon agreement, Lin Chao immediately felt every nerve of his, every piece of flesh down to the smallest cell in his entire body implanted with violent pain. If the pain index of twenty broken bones was nine, Lin Chao's current pain index was ninety and above because the two hundred over pieces of bones inside of him were all broken, a comminuted fracture at that too.
Other than the skeleton, his muscle tissues and nervous system were all rendered in hellish agony.
The excruciation was felt into the bones!
Lin Chao thought that he was going crazy. He wanted very much to pass out but that could possibly make him fail the test. He wanted to hypnotize himself so that time would pass in a blink of an eye but the pain emptied his mind, he could not even concentrate.
Not knowing how long had passed, a strand of awareness gradually came back to Lin Chao as he heard a message, "Pain index 126, Level S test passed, the test continued…"
Passing the Level S pain index test was only one of the determination criteria; it included itch, taste, hearing, and desire.
Itch and pain did not belong to the same nerve impulse transmission, thus tested individually.
Lin Chao felt like he had died once upon the experience of the Level S pain index. He had thought that it was the hardest to endure, but when he experienced the Level S itch test, he found out what actual hell was!
He was incredibly itchy everywhere, his hair, his face, his limbs, every part of him felt unbearably itchy, so itchy that even his blood itched too, but he could not scratch himself.
Bang! Bang!
Lin Chao banged his head against the bed in a frenzy and writhed frantically, hoping to be able to stop the itch with friction, but the more he did, the itchier it felt. He even thought that going through the Level S pain index test again would be a blessing!
Lin Chao did not know how he passed the Level S itch test. His mind went blank after hearing the word 'Start', then the moment he could think straight again, he realized that he had actually passed.
He heaved a sigh of relief that revealed a lingering fear.
The taste and hearing tests that followed the itch test became easier. Although they were also Level S, Lin Chao only felt discomfort. Compared to the hysterical itch, they were almost effortless.
Last but not least, came the aspect of desire.
The test of desire was self-control. It was no longer pain but all sorts of indulgence. The enjoyment was not superficial in simply simulating beautiful women and gourmet delicacies but it went straight to the nerves that were responsible for pleasure; the test would make its target feel on cloud nine, over a hundred times more pleasurable than having an orgasm!
The incredible pleasure was addictive, especially when one had endured the pain and itch tests prior. Participants would lose the ability to refuse such delight.
Lin Chao wished that time could eternally stop at this moment!
In spite of it, the test this time was not how long one could persevere but was considered to be completed only when one regained themselves within sixty seconds. Lin Chao pinched his legs in a manic but his sensory receptors seemed to have turned numb as he had only felt a slight pinch after he almost squeezed blood out of his limb.
The hint of pain triggered Lin Chao's bare control. He stood up with a shout and all the pleasures disappeared at once, although it left an engrossing impression that he never had the desire to try it again.
"Pain, itch, taste, hearing, desire…"
"Composite analyzing…"
The artificial intelligence voice was emotionless but Lin Chao was nervous listening to it.
After a few minutes…
"Final rating, Level S!"
Lin Chao almost jumped from ecstasy. The series of evaluations just now had almost broken him down; alas, the heavens were nice to him and he had gotten the highest level of rating, Level S!
"Participant's final rating: Level SSA!"
"The participant may enter the ruins record ranking, please name yourself!"
Listening to the three-eyed lady's cold tone, Lin Chao was joyful. The rating of Level 2S was the highest rating that only Zeus in his past life could achieve!
"Lin Chao." he stated his name.
"Entering…"
"Participant Lin Chao receives rating Level SSA, temporarily ranking first in the record system!"
As the three-eyed woman's voice spoke, a string of data appeared on the square screen on the dark golden ball and rapidly formed a message. "First of the trial – Lin Chao!"
"Rating: Level SSA!"
Lin Chao knew that the record ranking would remain for the viewing of anyone who entered this ruins in the future.
"Now, rating rewards!"
The three-eyed lady spoke flatly, "Rating 2S, rewarded an Evolution Tree. You may also choose any three items. The highest class of your chosen item is Class S!"
'An Evolution Tree?' Lin Chao was surprised. 'What is it? Why have I never heard of it? Is this what Zeus got? If that's the case, then the Evolution Tree is magic. It can make someone ranked ninety-something rocket to the seventh place on the global ranking in just a few months! Based on the current timing, this must be the first ruins treasure to greet the world!'
Then, a projection was portrayed from the three-eyed lady's golden vertical pupil eye. It was a virtual list that hovered in front of Lin Chao. There were plenty of item pictures and their selection criteria on it.
"Please pick three items."
The pictures of the ruins items were ultramodern firearms, cold weapons made of rare titanium alloy, incredibly precious potions, and some strange items belonging to that civilization.
The Gendaya Civilization was the first civilization of the Sun Era. It was also called the superpower civilization. Its people were Self Evolved; the source of the male's special ability was the third eye on their foreheads while the source of the women's power came from their uterus.
A myth of this civilization, the women's uterus was said to be able to communicate with the universe!
In addition, this civilization's people had no heart. Their vital points were their head and their third eye. In the first Sun Era, their technology was so advanced that it was tens of thousands of years more leading than modern technology. The ruins items obtained from all Gendaya Ruins were related to evolution! – Like evolution potion or evolution armor.
"Let's look at the S Tier first." Lin Chao scrolled the virtual list and went to the S Tier item list.
"Nuclear bomb… S Tier Evolution Potion… S Tier Genetic Dragon Armor…"
The S Tier list had only tens of items but each one of them was a one of a kind treasure; Lin Chao was immensely excited as he had never even touched them before!
The S Tier Evolution Potion could make a Level A Evolved gain a thirty percent chance to become a Level S Evolved and that sufficed to make the potion something to fight for among countless opponents.
The nuclear bomb was a nuclear-powered compressed explosive that could flatten a base city in a blink of eyes!
As for the S Tier Genetic Dragon Armor, it was insane. It could be fused with one's genetics and activated during a battle to actually manifest on the body; its defensive capabilities were heaven-defying that modern firearms could not deal any damage to it. It could only be married by equal tiered ruins items!
"Ah, the topnotch S Tier items indeed. Anyone of them is a treasure worthy of one whole base city!" Lin Chao held himself back from choosing despite the thrill and continued browsing the A Tier item list.
About a quarter of an hour later, he had gone through most of the items and picked three ultimately. There was only one that was from the S Tier, the other two items he had chosen were from the A Tier and B Tier respectively.
The S Tier item was a Foldable Alternate Dimension Space!
This was an invisible space that was hidden in an alternate dimension that was one hundred square kilometers in surface area and could store anything including living creatures!
It was the only item that Lin Chao could use out of all the S Tier items. The rest of the things, like the nuclear bomb, would have killed him as well when it erupted while destroying a base city as he would not be able to run out of its explosion range just yet!
The S Tier Evolution Potion would be useless now as Lin Chao would have to reach Level A Evolved to be able to consume it. The currently invincible S Tier Genetic Dragon Armor was equally impractical because his genetic strength now could not even support the fusion.
A good tool must be well utilized. Although it was a waste to pick A Tier and B Tier items when he had the selection right of the S Tier, the two items he had picked were significantly helpful to him right now.
The A Tier item was a pair of Genetic-Modified Dragon Wings! It was similar to the Genetic Dragon Armor, both genetic items that could be fused to the body, but the difference was that it was genetically modified and had an independent energy core. Lin Chao now need not deplete his genetic energy to support its activation, which meant that this pair of wings could fully unleash the force of an A Tier item out of the box!
During the early stage of the apocalypse, whoever used an A Tier ruins item would understand the extent of its destruction power!
As for the B Tier item, it was a Black Hole Bomb.
Its force was not as destructive as the nuclear bomb but there was no nuclear radiation that resided upon eruption. This was a physical compressed explosive that would disintegrate and swallow everything within the explosion range!
Lin Chao had only one purpose for choosing this bomb. – The zoo!
