Adrian moved his eyelids and slowly woke from his deep slumber, opening his eyes. The first thing that came into view was the simple ceiling of the cabin's living room, with morning sunlight streaming in from outside; it seemed he could also hear the chirping of birds.
Taking a deep breath, Adrian looked at the girl nestled in his arms. Sarah, lying on his chest, was still fast asleep, her lips curled up in a slight smile as if she were in the midst of a beautiful dream, her arms wrapped so tightly around him that it made moving difficult.
Shaking his head with a silent chuckle, Adrian pulled back a corner of the blanket that enveloped them and stretched his body, which was a bit stiff from sleeping on the floor, trying to pry the girl's arms open. But after several attempts, he couldn't get up without waking Sarah, so he ended up sighing and tapping his head against the floor as he lay back down.
